DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

John Gibson, ANA vs. LA ($7,800): With a 7-1-1 record, .940 save percentage and 1.88 GAA through his past nine home starts, Gibson is a strong lean at this reasonable salary. The Kings are playing their second game in consecutive nights and have generated the eighth fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league since the All-Star break.

CENTER

Nazem Kadri, TOR at NYI ($6,100): The Islanders continue to allow high-danger scoring chances and goals in bunches with 14.09 and 3.54 per 60 minutes since the All-Star break, respectively. Kadri enters in lukewarm form with six goals, an assist and 25 shots through his past nine contests, but there's potential for him to fly under the radar and be a contrarian gem out of Friday's deep pool of centers.

Brayden Point, TB at NYR ($5,900): The sophomore has missed the scoresheet in seven of his past 10 games, so a slump-busting matchup is just what Point needs. The Rangers have lost five of their past six contests, and have also surrendered the second most high-danger scoring chances (13.2) per hour this season.

WING

Mitch Marner, TOR at NYI ($6,200): Not only is Marner sporting a 10-game point streak consisting of four goals and 10 helpers, he lands in the noted soft matchup against the Islanders. This salary is manageable, so it wouldn't be shocking if the sophomore carried a high ownership percentage.

Gabriel Landeskog, COL vs. CHI ($5,900): The Blackhawks pulled off an upset win over Winnipeg on Thursday, so traveling to face Colorado on Friday should prove to be a letdown spot. Landeskog continues to skate in a top offensive role and has combined with linemates Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen for an elite 5.8 goals per 60 minutes. The Swede is also ripe for a breakout showing with just a single assist through his past five outings.

Yanni Gourde, TB at NYR ($5,100): It's been 10 games since Gourde's last goal, so the noted cushy matchup against the Rangers is an attractive spot to bank on positive regression. He's projected to skate on an intriguing line with Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson, and Gourde and Point check out as a cost-effective stack considering they've combined for 4.49 goals per 60 minutes this season.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. CHI ($5,700): Now four outings removed from an 11-game point streak that consisted of six goals, nine assists, 38 shots and 22 blocked shots, Barrie is positioned for a return to form in the favorable schedule spot against Chicago. Additionally, Collin Delia could suit up in the back-to-back set for the Blackhawks, which rarely proves to be a favorable setup for a netminder.

Mikhail Sergachev, TB at NYR ($4,000): There have been some growing pains defensively for the rookie this season, but offensively, Sergachev has been a force. He's recorded a high-end 1.97 points per 60 minutes and is another option in a Lightning stack, as he skates with Brayden Point and Yanni Gourde on the No. 2 power-play unit. Just note that Sergachev's floor is low.
