WelterweightUFC
October 10, 2018
LaFlare ended his MMA career Wednesday, the fighter announced on his personal Instagram page.
ANALYSIS
The welterweight hangs up the gloves after over a decade as a professional fighter and over five years with the UFC. He'll end his career with a 7-3 record in UFC fights and a 14-3 record overall. He made the decision to call it a career after being knocked out by Tony Martin at UFC 229 on Saturday, his second knockout loss in his last three matches.

Starched by Tony Martin Saturday in Vegas
WelterweightUFC
October 6, 2018
LaFlare lost to Tony Martin via KO (strikes) at 1:00 of Round 3 at UFC 229 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Known for his wrestling background, LaFlare instead tried to stand and trade with Martin and he ended up paying for it. Outside of a few front kicks in the early going, LaFlare's offensive output was non existent. He displayed zero ability to defend himself on the feet and he attempted just one token takedown last in Round 2 that predictably failed. It was a highly disappointing effort from a guy that entered the contest with a 7-2 record in nine UFC bouts.
Draws Tony Martin for UFC 229
WelterweightUFC
August 9, 2018
LaFlare will fight Tony Martin in a welterweight matchup at UFC 229 on Oct 6 in Las Vegas, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Three of LaFlare's past four fights, including a unanimous decision victory over Alex Garcia in April, have gone his way. He'll own height and reach advantages over Martin, as well as a statistical edge in both striking volume and takedown average.
Short medical suspension
WelterweightUFC
April 24, 2018
LaFlare was suspended indefinitely pending x-rays of his left knee and left elbow despite emerging victorious against Alex Garcia at UFC Atlantic City, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFlare may not have produced the most fan-friendly fight, but still was awarded a grinding, unanimous-decision victory. Despite the win, he was still taken down five times in the matchup to lower his career UFC takedown defense to 58 percent. He'll likely begin working on that shortly after his mandatory 14 days without contact.
Improves UFC record to 7-2 with victory Saturday
WelterweightUFC
April 21, 2018
LaFlare defeated Alex Garcia via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
It was a typical LaFlare fight in the sense that it was slow, grinding, and far from visually pleasing. LaFlare allowed Garcia to connect on five takedowns, but he used his athletic ability and strength to quickly bounce back up on multiple occasions. LaFlare had a significant edge in the striking exchanges despite the fact he lacks fluidity on the feet. LaFlare's overall record with the UFC is an impressive 7-2, but there is little reason to believe he can compete with the better welterweights on the roster. All seven of LaFlare's UFC victories have come via decision. You have to rack up some stoppage wins sooner or later if you want to be viewed as a legitimate threat.
Secures fight vs. Alex Garcia in April
WelterweightUFC
March 6, 2018
LaFlare will fight Alex Garcia at UFC Atlantic City on April 21, Alexander K. Lee of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
LaFlare's most recent fight was a surprising loss to Alex Oliveira back in July, as he was dealt a one-punch KO after controlling most of the fight. After nearly nine months off, LaFlare will have the chance to get back in the Octagon for a potential bounce-back opportunity against Alex Garcia, who owns a career record of 15-4 and comes in securing a submission win over Muslim Salikhov his last time out in November. Look for LaFlare, who's 6-foot-1 and owns a 74-inch reach, to use his height and length to his advantage against the 5-foot-9 Garcia, who has a 72-inch reach of his own.
