Becomes new Invicta FC bantamweight champion
BantamweightOther
May 7, 2018
Kaufman defeated Katharina Lehner via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:30 of Round 3 to earn the bantamweight championship at Invicta FC 29 on Friday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Kaufman ended her UFC tenure with back-to-back losses to Valentina Shevchenko and Alexis Davis, and proceeded to take more than a year off. She's been able to get back on track since, defeating Jessica-Rose Clark while competing for Battlefield Fighting Championship, and then picking up consecutive wins under the all-female Invicta FC banner. At 32 years old, Kaufman seemingly has room for another run in her, though it remains to be seen when she might get that opportunity. Though she has victories over several UFC bantamweights on her resume, Kaufman has never faced current champion Amanda Nunes.

Signs with Invicta FC
BantamweightOther
December 6, 2017
Kaufman agreed to a deal with Invicta FC on Wednesday, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kaufman and the UFC failed to come to terms with a new deal following her unanimous decision victory over Jessy Rose-Clark in March in Battlefield FC: Korea. Before that bout, the veteran bantamweight lost her previous two matches, in what ended up being her last in the UFC. She is scheduled to take on an unnamed opponent at Invicta FC 27 on Jan. 13 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kaufman lost to Valentina Shevchenko via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on FOX 17 on Saturday in Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Kaufman easily won the total strike battle, but the vast majority of those were insignificant shots off her back. Outside of some top control time during the final 3 minutes or so, Kaufman was pretty much dominated. Shevchenko was able to throw her to the ground easily and she was the quicker fighter on the feet. The split decision is pretty deceiving. Shevchenko was clearly the better fighter on Saturday. This should just about do it in regards to Kaufman being a threat in the women's bantamweight division. It is the first time in her career that she has lost back-to-back fights.
Sarah Kaufman: Heads To Florida To Fight Germaine de Randamie
BantamweightOther
September 11, 2015
Kaufman will face Germaine de Randamie at UFC on FOX 17 on December 19 in Orlando, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a must win for the former Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion. Kaufman's efforts have been trending downward for the better part of the last two-plus years. She seemed to be in full control in her last fight against Alexis Davis in May, but she got caught in an armbar in the second round and was forced to tap out. Kaufman has to win if she hopes to be viewed as a contender in the UFC's 135-pound female division.

Kaufman lost to Alexis Davis via submission (armbar) at 1:08 of the 2nd round at UFC 186 on Saturday in Montreal.
ANALYSIS
A tough result for Kaufman in a fight that she seemed to be winning. To add insult to injury, Kaufman was tapping out for a good three seconds before referee Jerin Valel, who was out of position, finally noticed it. Kaufman was out striking Davis by a total of 76-40 (65-34 in significant strikes) before the fight came to a conclusion. Kaufman was the first ever women's bantamweight champion back in the Strikeforce in 2010, but she lost the title to Marloes Coenen just two fights later and she later failed in an attempt regain the title from Ronda Rousey . She is one of the better women's bantamweights in the world, but with so many talented fighters ahead of her in the peking order, it's tough to see Kaufman ever getting a title shot in the UFC.
