Goes to a razor thin decision
FeatherweightBellator
November 30, 2018
Weichel lost to Goiti Yamauchi via split decision (30-27, 27-30, 29-28) at Bellator 210 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.
ANALYSIS
Weichel dropped a very close decision. This was one of the best undercard fights in the history of Bellator. Weichel tried to hunt down his opponent, but in the end it was not enough. The judges preferred Yamauchi's ability to score from the outside. Weichel kept coming and tried to close the distance, but he could not win the decision. This is his second consecutive loss in Bellator after previously dropping a fight against featherweight champion Patricio Freire.

Will fight Patricio Freire at Bellator 188
FeatherweightBellator
August 23, 2017
Weichel will take on Patricio Freire at Bellator 188 on Nov. 16, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The bout will be a rematch of their June 2015 championship, which Weichel lost by a second-round knockout. Since then, he's gone 11-1 over his past 12 fights, including 4-0 in the Bellator cage. Over that stretch, he's picked up notable victories against Pat Curran and Georgi Karakhanyan. Freire, who won back the featherweight title with a second-round submission of Daniel Straus during Bellator 178 this past April, is 9-1 over his past 10 appearances at featherweight.
Takes dubious decision victory over John Teixeira
FeatherweightBellator
April 14, 2017
Weichel defeated John Teixeira via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at Bellator 177 on Friday in Budapest.
ANALYSIS
Weichel was very lucky to escape with the decision in this fight. He normally relies on his footwork and accuracy to carry him to decision victories. However, Teixeira turned up the volume and outworked Weichel for the first two rounds. The first round was all Teixeira as he hurt the German and came somewhat close to the finish. Weichel appeared to believe that he was behind in the third round and tried to make a late charge. The judges saw it differently and awarded Weichel the decision. Depending on the result of the upcoming title fight between Patricio Freire and Daniel Straus, "The Weasel" might earn another title shot.
Picks up first-round submission
FeatherweightBellator
December 16, 2016
Weichel defeated Brian Moore via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 4:44 of Round 1 at Bellator 169 on Friday in Dublin.
ANALYSIS
Moore seemed energized by his home country crowd. However, Weichel had a large experience edge and it showed. He controlled distance early and avoided any big shots from Moore. With about a minute and a half left in the first round, Weichel scored a takedown. Moore tried to stand and in the process gave up his back. Weichel remained patient, secured the choke, flattened out his opponent and finished via submission. Since falling to Patricio "Pitbull" Freire in a title fight back in 2015, Weichel has won three-straight fights. He will probably need to continue to stack up wins in order to get another title shot since he does not have the most exciting style

June 29, 2016
Weichel will face Emmanuel Sanchez in Bellator 159's featherweight feature event on July 22.
ANALYSIS
Weichel has won 21 of his 36 wins by submission, and has lost mostly by knockout. This is good news for him, as Emmanuel Sanchez has only knocked someone out once to win. The German featherweight fighter most recently dropped a loss to Patricio Freire by knockout, so he'll be looking to come back strong in late July.
Daniel Weichel: Drops Tough One To Patricio Pitbull Friday
FeatherweightBellator
June 19, 2015
Weichel lost to Patricio "Pitbull" Freire by KO at 0:32 of Round 2 in Friday's featherweight title fight at Bellator 138 in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
You really have to feel bad for Weichel. He was one second away from a TKO victory in Round 1 when Pitbull was saved by the bell. Then he's controlling the pace early in Round 2 and one giant left hook from Freire later, his shot at becoming Bellator featherweight champion is over. It was a fairly even first round before Weichel landed a couple big shots late. Weichel is known as a submission specialist, but he did all his damage Friday on the feet. Despite coming up short, he remains a threat in the Bellator featherweight division.
