Cannonier announced Wednesday that he has withdrawn from his scheduled middleweight fight with Roman Dolidze on Dec. 2 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi due to a torn right MCL, Farah Hannoun of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Cannonier reportedly suffered the injury shortly after being selected along with Dolidze as a replacement on the card for the Paulo Costa-Khamzat Chimaev fight that was cancelled due to Costa's own knee injury. The 39-year-old Cannonier is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday and will likely face a multi-month recovery before being cleared to compete again at some point in 2024.

ANALYSIS
Cannonier is fresh off a unanimous decision over Marvin Vettori in June. Dolidze, who lost to Martin Vettori at UFC 286, was supposed to face Derek Brunson and UFC 295 on Nov. 11, but he'll have to wait another month to fight again.

Cannonier defeated Marvin Vettori via unanimous decision (49-45, 49-45, 48-46) at UFC on ESPN 47 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was the best version of Cannonier we have seen in quite some time. He found himself in a hairy situation moments after the opening bell rang, but once he fought his way through that, it was smooth sailing. Displaying excellent cardio through out the course of the bout, Cannonier floored the gas pedal in pressuring Vettori virtually the entire fight. His 257 total strikes landed are the most in UFC middleweight history. Jared picked his spots and varied his attacks, both of which helped him massively when Vettori attempted to make some sort of comeback. To give you an idea how big of a victory this is for Jared, Vettori had lost three times dating back to April 2018. Those defeats came against a current and former UFC Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya (twice) and Robert Whittaker. The 39-year-old Cannonnier is again right in the thick of the title picture following this effort. He'll also take home a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus here.

ANALYSIS
Cannonier will enter the Octagon for the first time since December after he defeated Sean Strickland via split decision. The 37-year-old should have a reasonable case at a title rematch against Israel Adesanya should he come out on top against Vettori.

Cannonier defeated Sean Strickland via split decision (49-46, 46-49, 49-46) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
To give you an idea how tight this fight was, all three judges didn't agree on even a single one of the five rounds. The craziest thing of all was that it was perfectly understandable. It was Cannonier that likely landed the biggest shots of the fight, but Strickland consistently worked behind his jab and landed combinations. While Sean only targeted Jared's head, Cannonier threw plenty of leg kicks and ripped the body when available. Jared gave off this impression of being the more aggressive fighter, but that was to be expected considering Strickland always sits back and attempts to counter his opposition. In a bout that could have legitimately gone either way, it was Cannonier that was delivered an early Christmas present. Jared is 6-2 in his past eight fights dating back to November 2018, with the lone setbacks coming against the best the division has to offer in Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.
Set to headline UFC Vegas 66

Cannonier will take on Sean Strickland in a middleweight matchup in the main event of UFC Vegas 66 on Dec. 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Cannonier's matchup with Sean Strickland, that was cancelled after Strickland suffered a finger injury, will be rescheduled to headline UFC Vegas 66. The 38-year-old American was most recently defeated by Israel Adesanya in his first career title fight, but he will look to bounce back against Strickland. Cannonier currently boasts a record of 8-6 in the UFC.
