Can't stay upright in loss

Kondo lost to Ashley Yoder via unanimous decision (26-30 25-30 24-30) at UFC Fight Night 154 in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Kondo had a good deal of success on the feet in this fight, but unfortunately, she wasn't there for long. Yoder took her down to the mat early and often, and dominated in the grappling exchanges. The kickboxer did well not to be submitted, but she needs to work on her takedown defense in order to put her striking to good use. After winning her UFC debut in 2017, Kondo has now dropped three fights in a row, which raises the question of where she goes from here. Kondo falls to 6-3 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Kondo will take on Ashley Yoder in a strawweight matchup at UFC Greenville on June 22, Jose Youngs of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kondo has appeared under the UFC banner on three separate occasions, and averages 7.30 significant strikes landed per minute, which even includes a loss to Poliana Botelho where she recorded just two significant strikes. That time of volume appears fantasy-friendly on the surface, but this is a toss-up matchup where Kondo will enter the cage with disadvantages in both height and reach.

Kondo lost to Xiaonan Yan via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday in Beijing, China.
ANALYSIS
Kondo struggled to close the distance and land in this fight. She pushed forward throughout the contest, but Xiaonan was able to cut angles and land counters. Not only did she eat counters, but she also had to absorb a lot of leading leg kicks and side kicks. Kondo made it to the UFC using her clinch game, but since making her debut she had tried to fight at distance and struggled.

Kondo lost to Poliana Botelho via TKO (punches) at 0:33 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Santiago, Chile.
ANALYSIS
Kondo did not even have a chance to get going in this fight. Botelho landed her first kick very hard to the body. The shot clearly hurt Kondo, and it sent her back to the cage. From there, Botelho turned it on with punches and finished the fight. Kondo made her way to the UFC fighter lesser competition, and in her first big step up in competition she really struggled. With more performances like this, she might end up back in Pancrase very soon.
