Fight canceled

Evloev's fight with Zhenhong Lu at UFC Shenzhen was canceled Friday after Lu was not cleared to fight due to a cut, reports.
Evloev just can't seem to keep an opponent locked in for Shenzhen, as Lu was already a replacement option for Mike Grundy (undisclosed). It seems unlikely that the UFC will arrange another replacement for Evloev in time for Saturday's event.

Evloev will now take on Zhenhong Lu in a featherweight matchup at UFC Shenzhen on Aug. 31, Nolan King of reports.
Evloev was originally scheduled for a matchup with Mike Grundy, who ended up being a late withdrawal from the card due to an unspecified health issue. Instead, he'll take on Lu in a rematch of a June 2015 showdown under the banner of M-1 Global. Evloev won that matchup via unanimous decision and hasn't lost since, sporting an 11-0 overall record with seven stoppages -- three knockouts and four submissions.

Evloev (11-0-0) is no longer scheduled to face Mike Grundy (12-1-0) in a featherweight fight Aug. 31 at UFC Shenzhen after the latter withdrew from the bout Tuesday, citing an unspecified injury, Nolan King of reports.
Evloev kept his undefeated record intact while making his UFC debut in his native country back in April at UFC Saint Petersburg, where he defeated Seung Woo Choi via unanimous decision. Though his next fight is in flux at the moment, Evloev is still expected to return to the Octagon in China, as the promotion is actively seeking a replacement for Grundy on the Shenzhen card.

Does his best Khabib Nurmagomedov impression
April 20, 2019
Evloev defeated Seung Woo Choi via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Saint Petersburg.
Both fighters had their moments on the feet in this fight, but Evloev's wrestling was the story of the fight. He was able to close the distance and score takedowns consistently. He was never really able to establish top position clean, but he forced Choi to defend and kept him from striking. It appeared to be a dominant decision, but the fact that he was deducted a point for an illegal knee strike ended up dropping his scores on the card. With the victory in his UFC debut, he improves to 11-0 as a professional.
