Fighting Trevor Smith
MiddleweightUFC
November 8, 2019
Muradov has stepped in to fight Trevor Smith at UFC on ESPN 7, which takes place Dec. 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Muradov is taking the place of Alonzo Menifield, who withdrew from the match for undisclosed reasons. This will be Muradov's second UFC fight in less than three months after he defeated Alessio Di Chirico via unanimous decision in his UFC debut back at the end of September. Including all fights, Muradov is currently riding a 12-fight win streak, one that goes all the way back to December of 2016. On the other hand, his opponent Trevor Smith is a veteran in the UFC, having fought 15 times and sports a meager 7-8 record which includes three losses in his last four fights. Muradov will look to stay hot and continue a bright start in his UFC career.

Successful promotional debut

Muradov defeated Alessio Di Chirico via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Copenhagen on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
While some might argue this fight could have gone the other way, Muradov did edge out Di Chirico in terms of significant strikes in two of the three rounds. It likely came down to a first round that was largely uneventful until the very end, and the judges seemed to score that one in Muradov's favor. The second round clearly went to the Uzbekistan native, who recorded 23 significant strikes, including a right hand that opened up a cut. Muradov started to run out of gas in the third round and absorbed a good number of damaging shots, but he was able to stay standing and hold on for the victory. It was still likely a bit disappointing for fantasy owners, as Muradov scored a total of just 54 significant strikes and no grappling points en route to the decision.
Making UFC debut in Copenhagen

Muradov (22-6-0) announced Monday via his personal Instagram account that he signed a contract with the UFC and is scheduled to make his promotional debut Sept. 28 at UFC Copenhagen. He'll take on Alessio Di Chirico (12-3-0) in a middleweight bout.
ANALYSIS
The promotion's first Uzbekistan-born fighter, Muradov earned his spot on the UFC roster after reeling off 11 straight wins. His latest victory came as a member of the Slovenian-based Oktagon MMA promotion back in July, when he scored a second-round win over UFC veteran Wendell Oliveira. Muradov will be replacing an injured Peter Sobotta on the Copenhagen card.
