Still searching for first UFC win
BantamweightUFC
August 7, 2021
Simmons lost to Johnny Munoz via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:35 of Round 2 at UFC 265 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Simmons has now been stopped in each of his first two bouts with the company. It's not a recipe for future success. After being knocked out by high-end prospect Giga Chikadze in his debut last November, Simmons found himself -- unsuccessfully I might add -- trying to fend off the submission game of Munoz. A journeyman prior to his arrival in the UFC, Simmons has competed for countless regional organizations and never fought anyone of note. Without knowing his contract details, there's a real chance he doesn't get a third opportunity with the UFC given what we have seen in his first two attempts.

Falls as underdog in debut
BantamweightUFC
November 7, 2020
Simmons lost to Giga Chikadze via TKO (head kick) at 3:51 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN+ 40 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Simmons did a good job keeping his distance early and picked his spots to initiate clinch situations with Chikadze. He was unable to take the much taller man down, however, and the fight turned into a striking battle. Chikadze landed a big left body kick that forced Simmons to lower his arm, and the next shot was a brutal left high kick that sent Simmons to the canvas. After a few follow-up shots, Herb Dean was forced to step in and call off the action. Simmons looked the part of a (+600) underdog here, but there are some wrestling skills worth unpacking with a more even matchup his next time out.
Debuting against Giga Chikadze
BantamweightUFC
October 31, 2020
Simmons will make his UFC debut against Giga Chikadze on Nov. 7, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Simmons comes to the UFC after recording a 6-2 record as a professional with other promotions. His most recent fights came in the final two months of 2019 and finished with a pair of first-round victories which took a total of 100 seconds to complete. He doesn't get the easiest draw in his UFC debut, as Chikadze has won four straight fights to open his UFC career.
