Takes out last minute replacement Kyle Nelson
LightweightUFC
December 8, 2018
Ferreira defeated Kyle Nelson via TKO (punches) at 1:23 of Round 2 at UFC 231 on Saturday in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Things were a bit hairy for Ferriera early on before Nelson's gas tank quickly evaporated and he was able to take full control of the fight. Realizing he was getting the short end of the striking exchanges between the two men, the Brazilian quickly started going for takedowns and they landed with ease given Nelson's sudden lack of energy. Ferreira has barely fought of late due to a USADA suspension, but he is 13-2 in his professional career and the two setbacks came at the hands of Dustin Poirier and Beneil Dariush. Ferreira is legitimately talented.
Third time's the charm?
LightweightUFC
December 5, 2018
Ferreira will now go up against Kyle Nelson at UFC 231 on Saturday in Toronto after Jesse Ronson was forced to withdraw from the event, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Per MMAFighting.com, Ronson was unable to cut enough weight to safely compete in Saturday's affair, so Ferreira will receive his third different opponent for this card after initially being added to take on John Makdessi. Due to undisclosed reasons, Makdessi withdrew from the fight in late November, but the promotion has worked hard to keep this bout alive. This will mark Nelson's first fight in the UFC after defeating Morteza Rezael a couple weeks back in the Romanian Xtreme Fighting promotion. He sports a career 12-1 record.
Gets new opponent

Ferreira will face off against Jesse Ronson at UFC 231 in Toronto on Dec. 8 after John Makdessi (undisclosed) withdrew from the fight, Nolan King of Flocombat reports.
ANALYSIS
Due to Makdessi's removal, Ronson will get another chance at UFC glory after failing to make an impact the first time around when he lost to Michel Prazeres, Francisco Trinaldo and Kevin Lee in a 10-month span. That said, Ronson is coming off five straight wins in the TKO promotion and has some confidence heading into this fight. Ferreira is also on a winning streak having defeated Jared Gordon and Olivier Aubin-Mercier in his last two times in the ring.
Headed to Canada to face John Makdessi
LightweightUFC
October 4, 2018
Ferreira will take on John Makdessi in a lightweight matchup at UFC 231 on Dec. 8 in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Ferreira has won his last two fights in the UFC, rebounding nicely from consecutive losses to solid lightweights in Dustin Poirier and Beneil Dariush -- both of which occurred in 2015 or earlier. While Ferreira has an impressive resume and quality record of 13-2, he's not the most active fighter. The matchup against Makdessi will be just his second fight in a span of two-plus years, though he is coming off a TKO win over Jared Gordon in February. Matchup-wise, Ferreira is on the wrong end of the striking statistics, as Makdessi sports superior striking volume and striking differential. Furthermore, Makdessi gets to fight in his home country of Canada. Physically, however, Ferreira is an inch taller, and will enter the cage with a six-inch reach advantage.
Defeats Jared Gordon via TKO in Round 1 in Austin
LightweightUFC
February 18, 2018
Ferreira defeated Jared Gordon via TKO (punches) at 1:58 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Austin.
ANALYSIS
Ferreira came out very aggressive in this fight. His aggression worked against him towards the beginning of the fight as he landed two low blows on Gordon and received a hard warning from the referee. After that, Ferreira fought off a takedown and was able to drop "Flash" with a left hook in the ensuing exchange. Ferrira then stepped over into mount, transitioned to Gordon's back, and trapped his left arm before pounding out the New York native.
