Avoids major knee damage

Silva recently underwent an MRI that did not reveal any major ligament damage to his injured knee, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Silver suffered a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 237 on Saturday, where a culmination of hard leg kicks eventually caused Silva to buckle to the ground, effectively stopping the fight. He needed to be helped out of the Octagon and back to the locker room, leading many fans to fear the worst for the Brazilian superstar. Fight fans got some good news instead, as Silva appears to only need physical therapy prior to resuming training. He was given a six-month medical suspension by the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA), but it appears likely he'll receive clearance prior to that September eligibility date. Nonetheless, it's fair to wonder what Silva, who turned 44 in April, has left in the tank after going 2-6 in his last eight fights.

Silva (knee) was given a 180-day medical suspensionby the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA), Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Specifics regarding Silva's knee injury are still unknown, as the legendary fighter is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday. This suspension means that Silva could potentially be out for up to six months, but if cleared by a doctor, he could return in as soon as 45 days. Look for a more concrete update on Silva's timetable to come once the MRI results are in.
Didn't suffer broken leg

Silva did not suffer a leg fracture in his UFC 237 bout Saturday but will be undergoing an MRI on Monday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's certainly good news for Silva that nothing broke, but the injury that came as a result of a kick by opponent Jared Cannonier to the outside of his left knee made him immediately unfit to continue fighting. More on Silva's injury should come once his team gets the results of his MRI on Monday.
Suffers knee injury in UFC 237 loss

Silva lost to Jared Cannonier via TKO (kick) at 4:47 of Round 1 at UFC 237 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
The loss is secondary compared to the potentially devastating knee injury that Silva appeared to suffer. In a first round that had very little action, Anderson ate a bunch of low kicks and one final vicious one to the outside of Silva's left knee crippled him and forced referee Herb Dean to immediately (and correctly) step in. Anderson revealed to Jon Anik in a gracious post-fight interview that he was dealing with a knee issue leading up to the bout. For all the talk of Silva potentially retiring of late, there was a report just the other day of extending his contract. If this a long-term injury, you can't help but wonder if those plans change. Anderson had to be assisted out of the cage and down the stairs before badly limping to the back under his own power. You never want to speculate, but it didn't look good. Stay tuned for further updates on the condition of the 43-year-old Silva.

Silva will take on Jared Cannonier in a middleweight bout at UFC 237 on May 11 in Brazil, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Silva had expressed his desire to be on the UFC 237 card following his loss to Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision at UFC 234 earlier this month, and he will get his wish. At 43 years old, Silva has gone winless in six of his last seven UFC bouts, but he will look to return to his winning ways in one of the quickest turnarounds of his storied career.
Tries to turn back the clock

Silva lost to Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27. 30-27) at UFC 234 on Saturday in Melbourne.
ANALYSIS
Silva gave Adesanya a bit of a test, but in the end he dropped the three-round decision. He was more than game and even gave the younger fighter a run for his money in the second round. The performance even earned both men Fight of the Night bonuses. However, Adesanya had the speed advantage and was able to land the better and stronger strikes. Silva has now gone 1-5 in his last six fights and has only won a single fight since 2012.
