Slugs it out with veteran striker

October 27, 2019
Albu lost to Loma Lookboonmee via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
Things have not gone Albu's way since she returned from a nearly two-year layoff earlier this year. In her first fight back, she fell quickly via submission against Emily Whitmire. In this bout, she tried to slug it out with a skilled Thai fighter and got the worst of it. She was outlanded 99 to 65 by Lookboonmee. Even though the fight was a battle and ended via split decision, it was never really that close. Albu's next fight will be very important since her job might possibly be on the line.

Albu will square off against Loma Lookboonmee at UFC Singapore on Oct. 26, Nolan King of MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Albu is aiming to bounce back after being handed her first professional loss against Emily Whitmire just 1:01 into the first round at UFC Phoenix in February. The 29-year-old Russian has won both via TKO and submission during her brief professional career, so she could aim to attack Lookboonmee in a number of ways.

Albu lost to Emily Whitmire via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:01 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 1 on Sunday in Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Albu came out looking to strike. She was throwing hard strikes on the feet, but Whitmire closed the distance and went for a takedown. Whitmire moved to the back and locked in the rear-naked choke. Albu did not get a chance to show anything in this fight. She made her UFC debut in 2015, but this was only her third fight. She lost her undefeated record here and falls to 3-1 as a professional.
Finally back in action

Albu will take on Emily Whitmire in a strawweight matchup at UFC Phoenix on Feb. 17.
ANALYSIS
Albu sports a 3-0 MMA record, but has fought just one time since 2015 -- a unanimous-decision win over Kailiin Curran at UFC 214. She was actually out-struck by Curran in that one, but picked up five takedowns in the matchup to secure the win. Along with that win, Albu was also handed a 180-day medical suspension due to a fractured orbital bone, but is now presumably healthy. The two combatants were originally scheduled to throw down at UFC 233 on Jan. 26, but the bout had to be pushed back after that event was cancelled by the promotion.

Albu has received a medical suspension of 180 days by the California State Athletic Commission following her UFC 214 victory over Kailin Curran on Saturday, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Albu added another win to her UFC record (2-0), this time via unanimous decision over Kailin Curran. While Curran landed more total strikes throughout the match (153 to 109), Albu came out strong in the first two rounds, threw around the same number of punches and ended up with 5-of-8 takedowns. She came away with the win and a possible fracture to her left orbital. Albu will have to remain out for 180 days unless cleared earlier by a physician. Donald Cerrone and Renato Moicano were also given similar medical suspensions and are pending clearance from a physician.
