Injury News Updates:

English Premier League (EPL)

Major League Soccer (MLS)

Roman Torres    D    Seattle Sounders FC
Torres joined Panama last week for international duty ahead of the World Cup, as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Torres had been out for the last month due to a hamstring injury, but will try and win a spot on the national team and could be out for another month for the Sounders. That being the case, Kim Kee-Hee will continue to start if healthy.
Nicolas Lodeiro    M    Seattle Sounders FC
Lodeiro left for international duty with Uruguay last week, while he deals with a toe injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Lodeiro wasn't likely to play against RSL anyway due to a toe injury, so this didn't change much. Lodeiro will try to fight for a spot on the World Cup roster and if that happens, the Sounders will need to find someone to replace him for the next month.
Dom Dwyer    F    Orlando City SC
Dwyer (Lower Body) trained indoors on Thursday, Jordan Culver of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Dwyer was listed as questionable by head coach Jason Kreis during a session with local reporters, while a return to full training will be his best chance to feature in Saturday's match against Chicago.
Maxime Chanot    D    New York City FC
Chanot (undisclosed) isn't expected to be ready for Friday's match against Houston, according to the match preview.

Fantasy Analysis

Chanot was a late scratch ahead of last week's match, which usually doesn't mean a good thing, especially when returning from an injury. Sebastien Ibeagha will continue to start in Chanot's place as a center back.
Leandro Gonzalez Pirez    D    Atlanta United
Gonzalez Pirez is suspended for Wednesday's match against New England due to card accumulation.

Fantasy Analysis

Gonzalez Pirez has had an early issue with cards, already with four yellows and one red. The back line will look a bit different against the Revs with Sal Zizzo and Mikey Ambrose possibly getting starts.
Greg Garza    D    Atlanta United
Garza was sent off in the 71st minute of Sunday's loss against New York and will miss the upcoming match against New England.

Fantasy Analysis

Nothing went right for Atlanta after the break and will now be without a key defender next match. Garza's replacement could end up being Sal Zizzo, as Chris McCann is dealing with a hamstring injury.
Antonio Mlinar Delamea    D    New England Revolution
Delamea was training in full after getting knocked out of the weekend match against Columbus in the 52nd minute with an undisclosed injury, according to team reporter Jeff Lemieux.

Fantasy Analysis

Delamea only just returned to the starting XI and has three starts all season. Either way, it's a difficult trip to Vancouver and no one on the New England back line should be considered in fantasy. If Delamea can't make it, Claude Dielna could grab a start.
Fidel Escobar    D    New York Red Bulls
Escobar is away to Panama on international duty ahead of the upcoming World Cup, reports Dylan Butler of MLSSoccer.com.

Fantasy Analysis

Considering Escobar hasn't seen the field since March, this doesn't change much within the Red Bulls. Escobar is set to return in late June.
Rasmus Schuller    M    Minnesota United
Schuller left Sunday's match against SKC due to a head injury, although returned to midweek training, reports Megan Ryan of the Star Tribune.

Fantasy Analysis

This will be something to monitor for the Loons as Ibson missed the last match with a thigh injury. If Schuller can't go, the Loons may have to bring someone else into the squad like Maximiano, who played 24 minutes this past match.
Ibson    M    Minnesota United
Ibson was back at training this week after missing last weekend's match due to a thigh injury, reports Megan Ryan of the Star Tribune.

Fantasy Analysis

Even without Ibson last week, Minnesota still held strong for a point against SKC as Collin Martin got the start in midfield. Ibson remains an important piece as a defensive midfielder with 10 starts this season and 29 a year ago.
Jerome Thiesson    D    Minnesota United
Thiesson came away with an undisclosed knock from the weekend and missed training in midweek, according to Megan Ryan of the Star Tribune. He'll be questionable for Saturday's match against Montreal.

Fantasy Analysis

The absence of Thiesson would be a blow to the back line that are in a great spot to secure three points. If Thiesson can't go, Brent Kallman may be used along the back.
Tyler Adams    M/D    New York Red Bulls
Adams (knee) trained fully Thursday and is "ready for the weekend," according to coach Jesse Marsch.

Fantasy Analysis

Adams left early last match, but it wasn't because of anything major. As a defensive midfielder, his fantasy value is limited no matter the situation. He's managed five shots and three chances created in seven starts this season.
Kemar Lawrence    D    New York Red Bulls
Lawrence (head) returned to full training Thursday and should be ready for Saturday's match against Philadelphia, according to coach Jesse Marsch.

Fantasy Analysis

This is good to see from Lawrence, who exited last match on a stretcher. If he can get the start, it's a decent spot at home against the Union, and if not, Connor Lade would be the likely replacement at left back.
Amro Tarek    D    Orlando City SC
Tarek left for Egypt this week to prepare for the upcoming World Cup, reports Mike Gramajo of the Orland Sentinel.

Fantasy Analysis

Orlando will have to deal with some losses as Yoshimar Yotun also left this week. Without Tarek and the other center backs still injured, the options on the back line are dwindling. Chris Schuler, who only has one start this season, may be asked to start against Chicago on Saturday.
Yoshimar Yotun    M/D    Orlando City SC
Yotun left for Peru this week to train with the international team ahead of the World Cup, reports Jordan Culver of the Orlando Sentinel.

Fantasy Analysis

This isn't good news for Orlando as Yotun left earlier than almost everyone else in MLS. Without Yotun and Dom Dwyer last match, the team lacked some firepower as Oriol Rosell took Yotun's spot. Rosell won't have the same fantasy value as Yotun in a defensive midfield role.
Ashtone Morgan    D    Toronto FC
Morgan is dealing with a hamstring issue and is set to miss Friday's match against Dallas, head coach Greg Vanney told reporters.

Fantasy Analysis

Morgan hasn't played the last two matches, partly due to injury and partly due to others returning from injury, so this isn't a major deal as Ryan Telfer has filled in fine. He has five starts at left back with seven crosses and seven clearances.
Giovani dos Santos    F/M    Los Angeles Galaxy
Dos Santos (undisclosed) is questionable for Friday's match with San Jose, according to Adam Serrano of the club's official site.

Fantasy Analysis

Dos Santos has featured in five of a possible 11 matches this season as he continues to work through multiple injuries. He'll likely need to pass a late fitness test if he's going to be involved Friday.
Nick Hagglund    D    Toronto FC
Hagglund (hamstring) is questionable for Friday's match against Dallas, reports John Molinaro of Sportsnet.

Fantasy Analysis

Hagglund has just one league start this season due to injury and CCL play and even if he's ready for this match, it's hard to see him making the starting XI. At the least, Toronto are getting healthier by the day, which is only a good thing.
Liam Ridgewell    D    Portland Timbers
Ridgewell will miss the next two matches at a minimum due to a quad injury suffered last match, reports The Oregonian.

Fantasy Analysis

It's been an interesting start to the season for Ridgewell, who was benched early because of disciplinary reasons before returning to help the Timbers go on a winning streak. Without Ridgewell, they'll likely roll with Julio Cascante at center back.
Luis Robles    G    New York Red Bulls
Robles (knee) trained on the side during Wednesday's session, Dylan Butler of Pro Soccer USA reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Robles missed his first start in six years during last Sunday's 3-1 win over Atlanta, which allowed Ryan Meara to make the start. This could be the case again in Saturday's match with Philadelphia if Robles is unable to recover.
Alex Bono    G    Toronto FC
Bono will miss at least one match while away on international duty with the United States men's national team.

Fantasy Analysis

Bono is the only MLS-based goalkeeper that will be with the national team as the squad is European-based players for the most part. The first friendly is next Tuesday, while head coach Dave Sarachan is expected to make wholesale changes to his roster for the next two friendlies June 2 and June 9. It's unclear if Bono will be included on the roster for both of those matches as well. Clint Irwin should see time in net for Toronto while Bono is away.
Walker Zimmerman    D    Los Angeles Football Club
Zimmerman will miss time while he's away on international duty with the United States national team.

Fantasy Analysis

Zimmerman is one of two MLS players selected for the national team camp as they get set for friendlies with Bolivia, Ireland and France. It's unclear if he'll be included in the squad for all three friendlies, or if he'll return to Los Angeles before the national team heads to Europe for the last two friendlies with Ireland and France June 2 and June 9. He'll miss Saturday's match with D.C. United at the very least.
Joao Plata    F    Real Salt Lake
Plata (undisclosed) missed the 18-man squad for Saturday's 4-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Fantasy Analysis

Plata was unable to recover after subbing off in the club's previous match. His next chance to return will come in Saturday's match with Seattle, though it's unclear how realistic of a scenario that is.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic    F    Los Angeles Galaxy
Ibrahimovic was sent off during Monday's 1-0 win over Montreal.

Fantasy Analysis

Ibrahimovic slapped Montreal defender Michael Petrasso after the defender appeared to step on Ibrahimovic's foot. VAR revealed the Swede's actions, which led to the referee giving him a straight red card. He'll miss Friday's match with San Jose but should return May 30 against FC Dallas.
Tyrone Mears    D    Minnesota United
Mears missed Sunday's match against Kansas City due to a leg injury that has kept him out for more than a month.

Fantasy Analysis

There was a chance Mears was going to return for this match, but it didn't happen. His next chance will be the favorable home match against Montreal next Saturday.
Jimmy Medranda    M/D    Sporting Kansas City
Medranda left Sunday's match against Minnesota in the 36th minute with an undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Medranda limped off and was replaced by Seth Sinovic, who gave a bit of a boost to the squad. Medranda has started the last eight matches, most of them at left back, but this injury could return Sinovic to his old spot.
Gustav Svensson    M/D    Seattle Sounders FC
Svensson has left Seattle to join up with the Swedish national team ahead of the World Cup.

Fantasy Analysis

The Sounders are dealing with a plethora of injuries of late, so Svensson's absence will surely cause more headaches for head coach Brian Schmetzer, who also lost Roman Torres and Nicolas Lodeiro to international duty.
Will Bruin    F    Seattle Sounders FC
Bruin is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks because of a partially torn plantar fascia, head coach Brian Schmetzer said Thursday.

Fantasy Analysis

Bruin's absence will be a massive blow to the Sounders' attack, one that is already operating without Jordan Morris, who is out with a torn ACL. Clint Dempsey is likely to get many more minutes than initially expected, as long as he can stay fit.
Chris McCann    M    Atlanta United
McCann will miss Sunday's match against the Red Bulls due to a hamstring injury, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Fantasy Analysis

McCann hasn't played since late April due to the injury, but is expected to be ready for the next match against the Revs. He has seven starts this season and should move back into the starting XI when healthy.
Franco Escobar    D    Atlanta United
Escobar will miss Sunday's match against the Red Bulls due to a chest injury, reports the AJC.

Fantasy Analysis

Escobar missed last weekend's match and the team did just fine in a 2-1 win against Orlando. Escobar has two starts this season with three of those at center back. Expect Atlanta to use the same squad as last match with Miles Robinson starting.
Ulises Segura    M    D.C. United
Segura strained his MCL against RSL last weekend and will miss six-to-eight weeks, according to the team.

Fantasy Analysis

Segura wasn't proving to be a major factor for DC, but he did have seven starts. Yamil Asad should return to the starting XI after coming off the bench in the same match Segura got hurt in.
