Warriors Stay Locked In At Home
The Golden State Warriors defeated the visiting Boston Celtics, 104-94, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Chase Center on Monday evening.

The hosts jumped out to a great start and led, 27-16, after one quarter. The Celtics picked up their play in the second but they could not cut into the deficit as the Warriors led by 12, at halftime. The visitors found their groove in the third and outscored the Warriors, 35-24, in the quarter to cut it to a one-point game heading into the final frame. However, the Warriors quickly regained control with a 10-0 run to start the fourth, to claim an 11-point lead with just over eight minutes left. The Warriors kept their focus down the stretch and closed out the home win to earn a 3-2 series lead and move within one win of another championship.

Andrew Wiggins came up huge for the Warriors with 26 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block, in 43 minutes. Klay Thompson followed up with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Stephen Curry finished with 16 points, three rebounds, eight assists and a steal. The Warriors shot 47 percent from the field, including 9-of-40 from long range.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, in 44 minutes. Marcus Smart followed up with 20 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Jaylen Brown added 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a steal. The Celtics shot 41 percent from the field, including 11-of-32 from deep.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday in Boston.
