Grimes will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season to continue his rehab for lingering muscle soreness related to the right knee injury he suffered in late January, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Grimes hadn't played since March 13 and is set to miss his ninth straight game Friday in Washington with what the Pistons had listed as right knee contusion. According to Charania, Grimes won't require surgery on his knee to address the lingering soreness, and the bone bruise in his knee is also considered fully healed at this point. He'll finish the campaign with averages of 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.3 assists in 20.1 minutes per game over his 51 outings, but he made just six of those appearances with Detroit after coming over in a Feb. 8 trade with New York.
