Latest Fantasy Rumors
Done for series?
Pesce, who is dealing with a lower-body injury, could be unavailable for the remainder of the Hurricanes' first-round series against the Islanders, per Luke DeCock of The Raleigh News & Observer on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Pesce's lower-body issue is extra concerning considering the fact that it was a non-contact injury, which usually doesn't bode well for a short-term absence. Considering the New York native has generated only one point in his last 12 outings, his potential absence is unlikely to have a significant fantasy impact. With Pesce potentially out of the lineup, Tony DeAngelo should have the inside track to play in Game 3 on Thursday.

One of the most reliable stay-at-home defenders in the NHL, Pesce was again a key cog on the blue line for the Hurricanes. Pesce played 70 regular-season games, posting seven goals and 28 points. The offensive numbers were right in line with what we have come to expect from the University of New Hampshire product. As valuable as Pesce is to Carolina, there's nothing to get excited about here from a fantasy perspective. He posts middling hit and block totals for a rearguard and there isn't enough point production to make him a realistic option in the latter stages of your draft.
