Potieria lost to Michel Pereira via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:54 of Round 1 at UFC 301 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Accepting this fight on short notice and entering as a +425 underdog, Potieria was just background noise for this fight, and he filled his role to perfection. It almost certainly wouldn't have made a difference, but Ihor did absorb an accidental knee/shin to the head area prior to being choked out. Sporting a 2-3 UFC record entering the evening, Potieria had nothing to lose by accepting this fight and got a Pay-Per-View payday out of it. The bigger issue for the 27-year-old Ukrainian at this point is what comes next. The company isn't going to go out of their way to promote a guy with just a pair of wins in a half-dozen fights with the company.

Takes short-notice fight

Potieria is scheduled to compete against Michel Pereira in a middleweight fight at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro on May 4, per Farah Hannoun of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Pereira needed a new opponent after Makhmud Muradov withdrew from their scheduled fight at UFC 301. In steps Potieria, a surprising development considering his unclarified situation. After all, he was scheduled to compete against Sharaputdin Magomedov at UFC Saudi Arabia on June 22. It is unclear if Potieria withdrew from fighting Magomedov or will fight them both should his health allow so. Right now, the 27-year-old Ukrainian's concern should be defeating Pereira, bound for a homecoming with wins in each of his last seven bouts.
Draws undefeated opponent

Potieria will take on Sharaputdin Magomedov at the UFC event scheduled for June 22 in Saudi Arabia, UFC President Dana White announced Wednesday night.
ANALYSIS
Potieria snapped a two-fight losing streak with a decision victory over Robert Bryczek in February, and he'll now get a relatively quick turnaround against an undefeated fighter in Magomedov. Potieria does have an edge in terms of experience here, in addition to slight height and reach advantages. Magomedov was taken down three times in his UFC debut last October, but Potieria has yet to record a takedown in five official UFC bouts.
Wins after weight miss
MiddleweightUFC
February 10, 2024
Potieria defeated Robert Bryczek via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was Potieria's best performance in the UFC. It came in a fight he took on short notice. The one downfall was that he also missed weight by a pound and a half and had to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Bryczek in order for the bout to proceed. Potieria started slowly, but a pair of low blows that earned him some time to recover in Round 1 appeared to wake him up. Ihor ended up being the much more effective man over the second half of the bout, cruising to the decision win. Potieria lost three of his first four UFC bouts, so it's unlikely a string of victories will be forthcoming, but this was a nice effort despite the weight miss.

Potieria weighed in heavy ahead of his bout with Robert Bryczek at UFC Vegas 86 on Feb. 10, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Potieria weighed in at 187.5 pounds, missing the cut after filling in as a late replacement for Albert Duraev. The 27-year-old Ukrainian fighter, who has lost his last two fights, will have an hour to make weight in order to avoid jeopardizing the scheduled bout.
