Drops war to Billy Quarantillo
Jackson lost to Billy Quarantillo via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
It was a wild, back-and-forth affair. Jackson was the far more effective fighter early on before fading. He landed one takedown in each of the three rounds, but the opening frame was the only one in which he had Quarantillo in any sort of trouble. To Jackson's credit, he continuously pushed forward and tried to create offense even when it was clear he was getting the far worse of the action. Set to turn 35 years of age three days after this event takes place, Damon's second stint with the UFC has gone far better than the first, but he's now lost back-to-back bouts on the heels of a four-fight winning streak. Jackson's job might be on the line his next time out.

Win streak snapped at four
Jackson lost to Dan Ige via KO (punch) at 4:13 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Jackson had been great during his second stint with the UFC, entering have won four straight and five of six dating back to his September 2020 return. Yet, he seemed out of sorts in this fight from the very start. Facing a heavy-handed opponent with fight-ending power, Jackson got clipped a couple of times early and never seemed to be able to get on track. Damon picked up a knockout victory over Pat Sabatini in his most recent bout last September, but he typically struggles in anything other than a prolonged mat battle. He failed on his lone takedown attempt in this fight. A huge uppercut to the jaw late in Round 2 ended Jackson's evening on the spot. Now 34 years of age, there's a real chance we have already seen the best Damon has to offer inside the Octagon.

Booked against Dan Ige
Jackson will take on Dan Ige in a featherweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for Jan. 14, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson has found his groove in the UFC and is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, and he'll meet an opponent with his back against the wall, as Ige is the victim of three consecutive losses. It's still a step up in competition against a fighter who likely has the striking advantage, though Jackson will likely look to use his high-volume wrestling approach to take this fight off the feet. Ige was taken down nine times in his last trip to the cage and surely has to correct that deficiency for this matchup to be close. It's also a quick turnaround for Jackson, who is coming off a $50k-winning effort against Pat Sabatini in September.

Emotional win in Vegas
Jackson defeated Pat Sabatini via TKO (verbal submission) at 1:09 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Electing to fight despite the sudden death of his brother just days ago, Jackson went out and put forth arguably his best UFC performance to date with several family members in the crowd. Never known as much of a striker, Jackson clipped Sabatini with a front kick to the jaw very early on which turned the tide of the entire fight. Sabatini found himself on wobbled legs before Jackson forced him to the mat and eventually got the stoppage. Damon wasn't very successful in his first UFC run, but he has gone 5-1 in six fights since returning to the company in September 2020. None of those prior wins were as big as this one, and it will also earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
