Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Kyle Hendricks, CHC vs. MIL ($52): Hendricks fired a near no-hitter against the Cardinals his last time out, and he now has a sparkling 2.03 ERA on the season. He's scored between 25 and 37 fantasy points in seven of his last eight starts, with the low end of that range having come against this same Brewers squad on Sept. 5. Hendricks has also been particularly dominant at Wrigley Field, where's he's allowed a paltry .195 batting average and .227 wOBA. The Brewers have struck out at a 25.4 percent rate against right-handed pitching as well, furthering Hendricks' case.

Robbie Ray, ARI vs. LAD ($33): The Dodgers' ineptitude against southpaws is undeniable, with the Blue Crew now sporting a .274 wOBA, .119 ISO and 22.5 percent strikeout rate versus lefties. Ray just shut this same squad down with 12 strikeouts over six innings on Sept. 7, an effort that generated 30 fantasy points. Ray checks in with an impressive 11.34 K/9 and has already shown an upside of close to 50 fantasy points this season, making him a cost-effective tournament play Sunday.

CATCHER

Jonathan Lucroy, TEX vs. OAK ($17) : A's starter Ross Detwiler has given up a .382 wOBA and 5.25 xFIP on the road to right-handed hitters, along with a .386 wOBA in his last two starts. Lucroy sports a .335 wOBA against southpaws, and he has a .302 batting average, .368 wOBA, .233 ISO and three homers over his last 11 games.

FIRST BASE

Edwin Encarnacion, TOR at LAA ($20): Encarnacion has blasted 32 homers on the season against right-handed pitching, and he boasts a .379 wOBA, .280 ISO and 37.5 percent hard contact rate against that handedness. Angels starter Alex Meyer feeds right into those numbers for fantasy purposes, as he's yielded a .389 wOBA to right-handed hitters, and an absurd .548 figure over a very limited sample when facing righty bats at home. Meyer has also given up a robust 41.2 percent fly ball rate to right-handed hitters to date, while Encarnacion counters with a 41.9 percent fly ball rate against righty arms, along with a 22.2 percent HR/FB rate.

SECOND BASE

Trea Turner, WAS at ATL ($21): There's little reason for Turner not to be the highest-priced second baseman on the slate, and yet he can be had for several dollars less. He brings a bit of everything to the table, as his power has begun to emerge alongside his already stellar hitting. Turner blasted two more homers Saturday, netting over 30 fantasy points for the second straight game. While Braves starter Matt Wisler has been tough on righty hitters this season, Turner is playing at a level that transcends matchup. He's tallied a .352 batting average and .407 wOBA against right-handed pitching, and an even better .413 wOBA, along with a 37.3 percent hard contact rate, when facing that handedness on the road.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TB at BAL ($15): Speaking of hot hitters, Longoria has scored between 18 and 22 fantasy points in his last three games, with homers in each. He's also tallied four consecutive multi-hit efforts, while Orioles starter Wade Miley has given up a .369 wOBA to right-handed hitters, along with 21 homers. Miley has also been fading fast in September, with a mammoth 14.21 ERA and .448 wOBA given up in his last two starts. Meanwhile, Longoria sports a .361 wOBA and .281 ISO against southpaws on the road, along with a 40.8 percent hard contact rate.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. NYY ($14): Yankees starter CC Sabathia has allowed 16 of his 20 homers on the season to right-handed hitters, while Bogaerts has a .375 wOBA at Fenway Park, and an absurd .517 wOBA, .283 ISO, 28.6 percent HR/FB rate and 40.9 percent hard contact rate against southpaws there. He's coming off a 3-for-4 game Saturday when he also socked his 20th homer, and he could be in for another nice return Sunday.

OUTFIELD

Ender Inciarte, ATL vs. WAS ($19): Nationals starter Joe Ross is returning from a two month-plus absence due to a shoulder injury, and he brings a .353 wOBA allowed to lefty hitters that rises to .360 (along with a 5.40 xFIP) when facing them on the road. Inciarte checks in with a .318 wOBA against right-handers at home, and he has four multi-hit outings in his last six games. With his prime spot at the top of the lineup, Inciarte is always poised to return some nice value at what is a typically low ownership percentage.

Jose Bautista, TOR at LAA ($19): Bautista makes for another potent right-handed bat to throw out against Angels starter Alex Meyer, whose struggles against right-handed hitting were detailed earlier. Bautista brings a .361 wOBA and 40.7 percent hard contact rate against righty arms into Sunday, along with a .331 wOBA over his last 14 games.

Mike Trout, LAA vs. TOR ($24): Trout has a .320 batting average and 22 homers against right-handed pitching, and a .440 wOBA and .230 ISO against that handedness at Angels Stadium. He also has a 43.2 percent hard contact rate and 21.6 percent HR/FB rate against righties at home, while Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman has given up a .330 wOBA, three homers and a 33.3 percent hard contact rate over his last 17 innings (three starts).
