Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Tuesday's MLB slate features 15 games beginning at 2:20 PM Eastern time. There are some inexpensive options on the mound primed to exploit favorable matchups and venues, leaving more money to spend on the game's top sluggers.

PITCHER

German Marquez, COL at HOU ($43): Many people will be scared off by this matchup, but the Astros rank a mere 19th in home scoring at 4.30 runs per game. Meanwhile, Marquez has excelled outside of the hitter-friendly Coors Field with a 3.09 ERA in 67 road innings. Marquez is primed to take advantage of Minute Maid Park's 0.95 park factor, and he's also capable of posting gaudy strikeout numbers with a 24.9 percent strikeout rate.

Ryan Borucki, TOR at KC ($32): Borucki's 15.5 percent strikeout rate is nothing to write home about, but the rookie southpaw has been excellent otherwise. His 2.97 FIP suggests Borucki's 2.81 ERA is legit, and the only offense to produce more than two runs against him through eight starts has been Boston's league-leading unit (twice). Kansas City's lineup is the polar opposite of Boston's, ranking last in the league at 3.66 runs per game. Given the matchup, Borucki should have no trouble outplaying his $32 valuation.

CATCHER

Buster Posey, SF at LAD ($15): Posey hasn't quite been able to match his career .399 wOBA against lefties this year, but he's still sitting at a very respectable .376. At $15, San Francisco's two-hole hitter makes for a nice value play at the light-hitting catcher position against Dodgers southpaw Alex Wood, who will be returning from a hamstring-related DL stint.

FIRST BASE

Jose Martinez, STL vs. WAS ($13): The late-blooming Martinez has only built up 152 at-bats against lefties in his major-league career, but the 30-year-old has been tremendous over that sample with a .423 wOBA. His success in that split should continue against Washington's Gio Gonzalez, who has allowed a .340 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS at STL ($18): Murphy has a .364 wOBA against righties, and that number actually climbs to .374 on the road. The left-handed hitting veteran is primed to keep rolling against Cardinals righty John Gant, who is a converted bullpen arm that's only exceeded six innings once this season. Things should get even easier for Murphy after Gant comes out, as St. Louis' bullpen has the league's 11th-highest ERA at 4.24.

THIRD BASE

Jose Ramirez, CLE at CIN ($27): Ramirez is going to cost a pretty penny, but getting him in your lineup should prove worth it. The switch-hitting slugger's having an incredible campaign from the left side, with a .452 wOBA over 300 at-bats against right-handed pitching. Reds righty Sal Romano has surrendered a .376 wOBA to hitters from the left side, so Ramirez is as enticing an option as any batter in this entire slate.

SHORTSTOP

Manny Machado, LAD vs. SF ($18): Rookie Giants southpaw Andrew Suarez has struggled against right-handed hitters, allowing a .369 wOBA overall and a .407 mark on the road. Machado has a .374 wOBA against lefties this season, so Los Angeles' two-hole hitter is in excellent position to capitalize on this favorable matchup.

OUTFIELD

David Peralta, ARI at TEX ($22): Peralta's been raking in August, with a trio of four-hit performances and another three-hit game already this month. His recent success has raised the left-handed leadoff man's wOBA against righties to .406. That number could climb even further after this date with Rangers righty Yovani Gallardo at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Gallardo has allowed a .368 wOBA to left-handed hitters at Texas' home venue, which comfortably leads the league with a 1.36 park factor.

Starling Marte, PIT at MIN ($18): Marte has done most of his damage in righty-on-righty matchups, with a .357 wOBA that's much better than his .278 mark against lefties. He faces a vulnerable right-hander here in Minnesota's Jake Odorizzi, who has struggled at Target Field. In 52.2 home innings this season, Odorizzi has a 5.13 ERA and a .353 wOBA allowed to right-handed hitters. In addition to his contributions at the plate, Marte's a major threat to add value on the base paths with 28 steals in 105 games.

Michael Conforto, NYM at BAL ($17): A horrid first half has depressed Conforto's overall numbers, but he's turned things around with a .307/.398/.533 line since the All-Star break. Even with his early struggles, the 2014 first-rounder has a .394 road wOBA against righties this year. That number should only climb further by the time he's done with Orioles right-hander Andrew Cashner, who has surrendered a .354 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season.
