Yahoo DFS Baseball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Zack Greinke, ARI vs. CWS ($51): Grienke is $5 more expensive than any other pitcher, but it'll be worth it. The White Sox have a .295 wOBA and 22.6 percent K rate against righties this season. This could turn into another double-digit strikeout performance for Greinke, who has 46 Ks in his last five starts.

John Lackey, CHC vs. SF ($38): I'm not huge into Lackey, but given his price and opponent, this is one of the easier pitching plays to make. He's been hit-or-miss early on, yet has finished with less than 11.9 fantasy points just once in eight starts. While that's not an overly great stat, at least you know he won't get completely shelled. As for the Giants, they remain last in MLB with a .273 wOBA against righties.

CATCHER

Alex Avila, DET vs. HOU ($11): Avila's price is steadily climbing, but he's still vastly underpriced. Due to the Miguel Cabrera injury and absence of Victor Martinez, Avila started in every game last week. It's hard to see him being rested, especially against a righty, as that's where most of his damage has come with a .529 wOBA and .361 ISO. This will be Brad Peacock's first start of the season, so that could help as well, no matter what his limited numbers as a reliever say.

FIRST BASE

Chris Davis, BAL vs. MIN ($17): It was a bad weekend for Davis against the Blue Jays after coming in with a hot bat. He could get back to form with Kyle Gibson on the mound, who's getting called back up for this game. Gibson was sent down for a reason after allowing a .441 wOBA to go with a 6.20 xFIP in six starts.

SECOND BASE

Cesar Hernandez, PHI vs. COL ($15): The switch hitter has been much better against righties this season with a .373 wOBA and is in a good spot against Jeff Hoffman, who's making a spot start. Hoffman started back on May 11 and was solid with eight Ks, but still only made it 5.1 innings.

THIRD BASE

Eugenio Suarez, CIN vs. CLE ($17): Suarez has been better against lefties this season, but he's hit safely in eight of his last nine games and still has a solid .389 against righties (.463 at home). Helping in this game is that Josh Tomlin has been all over the place. After a couple good starts, he only made it 2.1 innings and allowed six runs last time out. For the season Tomlin has been worse against righties, allowing a .409 wOBA.

SHORTSTOP

Addison Russell, CHC vs. SF ($12): If you're looking for a cheaper player in a positive spot, Russell fits the bill. Ty Blach has gone seven innings in three of his last four starts, but it's hard to see him doing that against this Cubs lineup. In his only road start, Blach was lit up for eight runs in Cincinnati. Russell has struggled this season, but his power numbers are better at home with a stout .313 ISO against lefties.

OUTFIELD

David Peralta, ARI vs. CWS ($16): Miguel Gonzalez has given up five runs in each of his last two starts and has just nine Ks in his last four, so it makes sense to grab at least one guy from the Diamondbacks. Peralta is sporting a smooth .398 wOBA against righties and that number jumps to .458 at home with a .254 ISO.

Max Kepler, MIN at BAL ($14): Ubaldo Jimenez is on the mound Monday so you have to use a minimum of one player from the opposing team. Jimenez has allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts and has just a 12.9 percent K rate against righties with a 5.23 xFIP. Kepler had a successful weekend with a homer on Sunday and he'll look to carry that over. His .374 wOBA against righties makes him an easy, cheaper play against Jimenez.

Adam Jones, BAL vs. MIN ($12): I'll jump on a couple of Orioles for the Gibson matchup and look to both sides of the plate. It doesn't hurt that Jones has been better against righties early on with a .343 wOBA. Gibson was slightly better against righties in his six starts, but still allowed a .408 wOBA and 4.73 xFIP.
