FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Zack Greinke, AZ vs. CHW ($10,300): Greinke is the best bet among the high-end options. Greinke has better strikeout potential than Gerrit Cole, for example, and struck out at least six in six consecutive starts. And despite a big weekend at Seattle, the White Sox have a .297 wOBA against right-handed pitchers, second lowest in the American League.

CATCHER

Welington Castillo, BAL vs MN ($3,700): Castillo's price seems steep until you realize he's the highest-scoring catcher this season. Castillo's recent hot streak has pushed his season average to 11.8 fantasy points per game, which puts him ahead of Buster Posey, Gary Sanchez and the rest. Additionally, Castillo has a a .444 wOBA against righties this season.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, AZ vs. CHW ($4,900):Miguel Gonzalez takes the hill for the White Sox and he won't be long for this game unless he improves drastically off his past four starts. Gonzalez has surrendered five or more runs in three of his past four outings, and Goldschmidt is an easy selection as Arizona's best hitter against righties this season. His .462 wOBA against righties is seventh best in the majors.

SECOND BASE

Jose Peraza, CIN vs. CLE ($2,400): It's not often that you find this much upside in a player with a $2,400 salary, but now that Peraza seems to have righted the ship, he's a great value. Peraza enters with an eight-game hitting streak and has averaged 11.93 fantasy points during that stretch. Peraza and the Reds get a crack at the struggling Josh Tomlin, who — like the rest of the starting staff for Cleveland — is looking for answers, especially against righties.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN vs. CLE ($3,500): Cozart is averaging a very healthy 12.7 fantasy points per game on the season, but in the month of May that number is 14.33, which puts him in Joey Votto territory. As mentioned above, the Reds will face Tomlin, who owns a 6.86 ERA and is coming off an outing where he surrendered six runs in 2 1/3 innings. The Reds are the second best stacking option on this slate behind the Diamondbacks.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Sano, MIN at BAL ($3,900): There's no better stacking piece on the Twins against Ubaldo Jimenez than Miguel Sano, who carries a wOBA of .438 against righties this season. Sano hit a bit of a rut early last week, but he got back on track with double-digit points in both games Sunday.

OUTFIELD

Mark Trumbo, BAL vs. MN ($3,600):Kyle Gibson and his 8.02 ERA will take the mound for the Orioles. When we last saw Gibson, he pitched so poorly that the Twins were forced to ship him to the minors. With recent rainouts and doubleheaders, Minnesota needs a spot start and Gibson is the first in line. Unfortunately, unless he learned something in the minors over the past few weeks, he's not going to eat up many innings. The O's as a team have not hit righties all that well, so rather than looking at wOBA numbers, I'm going to go with the hot hand, which for the O's is Mark Trumbo. Trumbo has averaged 18.21 fantasy points per game over his past six games.

David Peralta, AZ vs. CHW ($3,100): Anybody that was fortunate enough to grab Peralta at a sub-$3k price this past weekend knows what he is capable of. His price has crept above the $3k mark, but he's still a great value at that salary. Peralta also owns a .398 wOBA against righties this season.

Corey Dickerson, TB vs. NYY ($4,100): Dickerson may be the hottest hitter in the majors right now. He has 25 hits in his past 12 games and has averaged 20.5 fantasy points over that span. He'll face Michael Pineda, which on the surface isn't a great matchup because Pineda has been pretty good this season, but the fact that Pineda is a righty is all we really need in this spot. Dickerson has smashed righties this season to the tune of a .431 wOBA, which is good for seventh in the majors.
