DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jacob deGrom, NYM vs. MIA ($12,700): DeGrom has drawn some tough matchups of late that have limited his scoring potential, but it's important to remember that the 29-year-old has a 3.35 ERA with a strikeout rate of better than 28 percent this season. DeGrom should be able to use the fastball to his advantage, as he has logged a 14.6 RAA with the pitch while the Marlins have tallied the sixth-lowest mark in the league against the heater.

Luis Castillo, CIN at ATL ($8,400): Challenging the Braves in their hitter-friendly home stadium may seem like a tall order, but Atlanta hasn't performed well at SunTrust Park this season as evidenced by their .309 wOBA and .143 ISO. It hasn't taken long for Castillo to amass an 8.0 RAA with his changeup, a pitch the Braves hold the lowest mark in the league against (minus-21.8 RAA).

CATCHER

Robinson Chirinos, TEX vs. CWS ($3,600): Chirinos has shown the ability to put points on the board in a hurry, having notched a .300 ISO and 37.4 percent hard contact rate against same-handed opposition. Miguel Gonzalez has compiled a K/BB ratio of 31:21 in 58 innings against righties, which has resulted in a 5.71 xFIP.

FIRST BASE

Danny Valencia, SEA at TB ($3,800): Valencia has assumed work on the weak side of the platoon after the acquisition of Yonder Alonso due to the .224 ISO and .372 wOBA he has logged against lefties over 98 at-bats. Meanwhile, Blake Snell has walked 12 percent of the right-handed batters he has faced while surrendering 12 home runs in 72.2 innings.

SECOND BASE

Jose Ramirez, CLE at KC ($4,400): Ramirez has logged a 17.7 RAA against the fastball this season while hammering right-handed pitching to the tune of a .242 ISO over 293 at-bats. Jason Hammel has registered a minus-4.2 RAA with his fastball and could be due for a market correction versus lefties, as he has notched a 5.07 xFIP against them over 74.1 innings.

THIRD BASE

Eugenio Suarez, CIN at ATL ($4,200): Suarez has beaten up on his opposite hand this season, having notched a .263 ISO and .411 wOBA across 99 at-bats. Meanwhile, Sean Newcomb has struggled at home, allowing 23 runs (21 earned) and a .365 OBP in 37.2 frames.

SHORTSTOP

Marwin Gonzalez, HOU vs. OAK ($4,400):Jharel Cotton has incredible stuff, but pitch-to-pitch inconsistency has contributed to the 25-year-old's 12.6 percent walk and 1.7 HR/9 rates against left-handed hitters. Gonzalez has had tremendous success against righties in 2017, logging a .253 ISO and a .415 wOBA in 241 at-bats.

OUTFIELD

Brett Gardner, NYY at BOS ($3,800): Gardner holds a 9.7 RAA against the fastball this season despite struggling mightily in August. These struggles will allow us to grab a bargain against Rick Porcello, who has notched a minus-10.6 RAA with his fastball while allowing a 44 percent hard contact rate to lefties.

Kole Calhoun, LAA at BAL ($3,600): Calhoun hasn't been much of a fantasy asset this season, but he has begun to find his groove in August, logging a .375 wOBA and .160 ISO over 50 at-bats. DFS players should be able to find several affordable options capable of putting up points against Chris Tillman, who has a 7.83 ERA and 2.1 HR/9 rate this year.

Yoenis Cespedes, NYM vs. MIA ($4,300):Adam Conley has walked 11 percent of the right-handed hitters he has faced this year while allowing a hard contact rate of better than 36 percent. This makes him a strong matchup for someone like Cespedes, who has a .268 ISO and a 44 percent hard contact rate against lefty hurlers.
