Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks
Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Sunday brings four afternoon games in the NBA, leaving just three games to make up the main evening contest on Yahoo. That doesn't leave a lot of options to choose from for your entry, but that doesn't mean you can't end the night a winner. Here are some players to target and avoid as you work your way through the choices.

GUARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS at OKC ($42): Beal continues to lead the way for the Wizards with John Wall (heel) out, scoring at least 40.8 Yahoo points in four straight games. He logged at least 36 minutes in each of those contests and should receive all the playing time he can handle moving forward. The Thunder are a good defensive team, but combine Beal's high minute's floor with the fact that both the Wizards and the Thunder are in the top-nine in the league in pace of play, and Beal still has excellent upside.

Dennis Schroder, OKC vs. WAS ($18): Schroder has been quiet of late, scoring 24.4 Yahoo points or fewer in three straight games. The problem is that he's gone cold from the field, shooting 11-for-41 (26.8 percent) during that stretch. Facing the Wizards could be just what the doctored ordered, since they allow the third-most points per game (116.9) in the league. On a night with limited options, Schroder might be worth considering in tournament play.

Guard to Avoid

Kelly Oubre Jr., PHO vs. CHA ($13): The Suns continue to bring Oubre off the bench, limiting him to 24 minutes or fewer in each of his last five games. That's dealt a blow to his offensive upside, leaving him to score nine points or fewer four times during that stretch. Since he provides virtually nothing in terms of assists and doesn't receive many rebounding opportunities with such limited playing time, there isn't much appeal here.

FORWARDS

Paul George, OKC vs. WAS ($50): George has been as consistent as it gets, scoring at least 40.3 Yahoo points in 16 straight games. He's exploded offensively this year, averaging 27 points per game and posting a 29.7 percent usage rate. It's not just about his offensive production, though, with George also averaging 8.1 rebounds, four assists and 2.2 steals. Considering the fast pace at which this game will likely be played, George has the potential to dominate.

T.J. Warren, PHO vs. CHA ($23): Warren has been very much a boom-or-bust option lately. Across his last seven games, he's scored at least 32.8 Yahoo points four times. However, he scored 18.4 Yahoo points or fewer in each of the other three games during that stretch. He's very much reliant on his scoring output to provide value, which is main reason why he's been so volatile. The Hornets have allowed at least 122 points in three of their last four games and aren't the same defensive team without Cody Zeller (hand) in the middle, so this has a chance to be one of the good performances from Warren.

Forward to Avoid

Otto Porter Jr., WAS at OKC ($21): Porter has been limited in two games since returning from injury, logging 14 and 21 minutes, respectively. He didn't start either contest, and it doesn't make a lot of sense for the Wizards to rush him into extended playing time, especially since he could be a valuable trade chip if they continue to struggle. Since he doesn't come at a huge discount, it might be best to wait on adding him to your entry until he's clear of any minutes limit.

CENTERS

Steven Adams, OKC vs. WAS ($25): Adams continues to dominate the boards, grabbing at least 12 rebounds in four of his last five games. He's on his way to the best season of his career, averaging 15.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest. The Wizards have been decimated by injuries up front, so Adams is going to have an excellent opportunity to thrive.

Willy Hernangomez, CHA at PHO ($13): The Hornets started Hernangomez in the first game after Zeller went down, although he only played 18 minutes. He was still productive, scoring six points to go along with 10 rebounds and a block. They brought him off the bench Saturday against the Nuggets and he was productive once again, scoring 10 points to go along with five rebounds in 16 minutes. The Suns are tied for the third-most Yahoo points allowed per game (52.7) to opposing centers, leaving Hernangomez with some upside in tournament play despite his lack of playing time.

Center to Avoid

Thomas Bryant, WAS at OKC ($18): Bryant has been productively lately, but he also had three easy matchups against the Bulls, Hornets and Hawks. He was overmatched by Hassan Whiteside on Friday, scoring just 16 Yahoo points. This is not a favorable spot for him to succeed against Adams and the Thunder, who allow the fifth-fewest Yahoo points per game (43) to opposing centers.
