Washington was released by the Bombers on Monday, Darrin Bauming of TSN Radio 1290 reports.

Washington caught just one touchdown pass across seven regular season games in his first CFL season, as the wideout dealt with a number of injuries for most of last year. He did, however, end the season on a high note with eight catches for 76 yards in a touchdown in the team's final loss, so other teams likely will look into signing the 26-year-old.

Washington caught eight passes for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 39-32 loss to Edmonton in the Western Semi-Final.

The first-year CFL player caught only one TD during seven regular-season games as he struggled to stay healthy and never topped 36 receiving yards, so Washington's playoff performance was an encouraging one for a team that now has plenty of time to think about its 2018 roster. The 28-year-old may find himself with a more prominent spot on the depth chart when next season rolls around.

Washington posted four receptions for 36 yards in Saturday's 26-20 win over the Lions.

Washington got some extra run after Darvin Adams (upper body) exited the contest in the first quarter. The 26-year-old has only appeared in four contests for the Bombers this season, and Saturday's catch total was his highest in any of those games. Washington could see an expanded role in Week 18 against the Argonauts if Adams is unable to suit up.

Washington is not listed on the depth chart for Friday's matchup with the Lions.

Washington provided minimal production over Winnipeg's last two games, so head coach Mike O'Shea decided to switch things up, and replaced Washington in the starting lineup with TJ Thorpe. Washington will spend this week on the practice roster, so he will not suit up for the first time this season.

Washington will likely be removed from the Blue Bombers' starting lineup this week, according to Bob Irving of 680 CJOB.

Washington's CFL career got off to a promising start when he found paydirt in his 2017 debut, but he caught just two passes in the two games since, and it appears Winnipeg will go in a different direction for the time being. TJ Thorpe is expected to assume Washington's place with the first unit.

Washington tallied 38 yards and a touchdown on two receptions in Saturday's 43-40 overtime win over the Roughriders.

The 26-year-old got his CFL career off on the right foot, bringing in a 35-yard score in the third quarter. Washington amassed 100 receptions for 1,735 yards and 15 touchdowns in three college seasons at Missouri, so he brings some big-play pedigree, albeit at a lower level of competition. While it appears he'll have an uphill battle for targets in an offense featuring Weston Dressler and Darwin Adams, his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame could certainly make him a potent red-zone threat.

Washington worked with the first-team offense at Tuesday's practice, Ed Tait of reports.

It's not entirely clear who all five of the Blue Bombers' starting receivers will be when their season kicks off in Week 2, but it appears Washington will be part of the group. Washington is a 26-year-old CFL rookie so he does not have much history to go on, but at 6-4 he has the size to serve as a deep threat.
