RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Pipkin (back) is listed as the third-string quarterback for Saturday's game against the Lions, Didier Ormejuste of RDS reports.

The good news is Pipkin appears to be healthy after missing time during the preseason with a back injury. The bad news is he is still the third-string quarterback even with Matthew Shiltz out with a back injury of his own, so it's unlikely he will see the field anytime soon.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Pipkin did not play in Montreal's preseason loss Saturday against Hamilton due to a back injury, Didier Ormejuste of RDS reports.

Pipkin was one of two quarterbacks who had to sit out the game, with the other being backup quarterback Matt Shiltz. With Drew Willy firmly in the starting role for the Alouettes, it seems like neither Pipkin nor Shiltz will play a big role in the season opener June 16 against BC regardless of how their backs are doing.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Pipkin is officially listed as the Alouettes' backup quarterback on the team's depth chart for Friday's contest against the Tiger-Cats.

Pipkin will make his CFL debut this weekend, and is expected to get a good look under center. Matthew Shiltz is set to start the game with Darian Durant (knee) ruled out, but it's anyone's guess as to how Montreal will wind up splitting the time between the two, especially with Drew Willy also on the active roster as the third-string quarterback.

Pipkin is set to receive some time at quarterback during Friday's game against Hamilton.

Bill Beacon of The Canadian Press reported that the team wants to get a good look at Pipkin's game in the Week 20 matchup with the Tiger-Cats. This will mark the first time in his short CFL career that Pipkin will see some action, although there's been no word on how many snaps or drives he will receive. With Darian Durant likely out with a knee injury, Matthew Shiltz is starting under center for the Alouettes.

Pipkin was placed on the one-game injured list in advance of Thursday's matchup with the Lions.

Pipkin signed with the Alouettes on Wednesday, and he was immediately placed on the injured list in order to give him time to get acclimated with his new surroundings.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Pipkin has been added to the Montreal roster.

Pipkin, coming out of Tiffin, a Division II school, did not get drafted in the NFL Draft this past year. The Arizona Cardinals briefly picked him up in late April before releasing him. Pipkin joins a crowded quarterback competition that includes current starter Darian Durant, ex-Miami Hurricane Jacory Harris, and ex-Oregon Duck Vernon Adams Jr.
