Coombs was placed on the six-game injured list prior to Friday's season opener.

It's not totally clear what type of setback Coombs is dealing with, but he is seemingly dealing with a right foot injury, according to Dan Ralph of The Canadian Press. Jimmy Ralph will take Coombs' place in the lineup until Coombs is ready to return.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs rushed once for three yards and tallied nine receptions for 77 yards in Sunday's 25-21 Eastern Final win over the Roughriders.

Seeing his first game action since Aug. 19 against the Alouettes -- a game in which he suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery -- Coombs made quite the impact, leading the Argonauts in both receptions and receiving yardage. The veteran may have stolen a target or two from James Wilder and certainly was much more of a focal point in the passing game than the typically productive receiver trio of Armanti Edwards, S.J. Green and DeVier Posey. The 25-year-old's receiving skills could prove to be a pivotal factor once again in a Grey Cup battle with a Stampeders defense that's been tough against downfield passing games all season long.

Coombs (shoulder) is on the Argonauts' depth chart ahead of Saturday's game against the Lions.

Coombs underwent shoulder surgery in late August after injuring himself during the team's victory over Montreal on Aug. 19. He is finally back on the active roster, and is listed atop the running back/slotback position for the team, so it's expected that he will see a decent amount of action this weekend.

Coombs (shoulder) was removed from the six-game injured list Sunday.

Coombs' stint on the injured list was extended just a couple weeks ago, but it appears he will have a chance to play in the Argonauts' regular season finale this weekend.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs (shoulder) had his stint on the injured list extended through Nov. 27.

Coombs could come off the six-game injured list before the season ends, but Nov. 27 is the day after the Grey Cup, so it's also possible he does not. Coombs' status will be updated next time more details regarding his status are released.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs will undergo shoulder surgery, but remains hopeful to return prior to the end of the season.

Coombs was pulled early from Saturday's victory over the Alouttes and test results following the game have now determined he'll need surgery. That should result in a multi-week absence for the 24-year-old running back, though the Argonauts have yet to provide a concrete timetable for a return. Coombs is currently targeting a return prior to the end of the 2017 season, but that will largely depend on how quick the recovery process goes. James Wilder could see added carries behind starter Brandon Whitaker with Coombs sidelined in the meantime.

Coombs suffered a shoulder injury in Saturday's victory over the Alouettes, Matthew Scianitti of TSN reports.

The extent of Coombs' setback is not certain, but according to Scianitti, "it doesn't look good." Coombs' next chance to play will come Sunday against the Stampeders, but it appears he could miss that game, and possibly more.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs carried the ball twice for 17 yards and added three catches for 27 yards in Friday's 21-9 loss to the Alouettes.

Ricky Ray's shoulder injury has had a big impact on Coombs' production. The 24-year-old caught 25 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown over the three games prior to Ray getting hurt as the veteran QB increasingly relied on him on underneath routes and screens, but in his last two games the scatback has managed only seven catches for 56 yards. Ray may be able to return for Week 9, but if he doesn't expectations for Coombs should be kept firmly in check.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs hauled in nine receptions for 97 yards in Saturday's 38-27 loss to the Riders.

The 24-year-old's stock has steadily risen the last three weeks, a stretch in which he's tallied 25 of his 37 receptions on the season while compiling 264 yards and a touchdown. Coombs does the overwhelming majority of his damage near the line of scrimmage, as evidenced by his 8.9 yards per reception. However, his sure hands and route running help open up the field for the likes of downfield threats S.J. Green, Armanti Edwards and Jeff Fuller. He'll look to extend his impressive run in a Week 7 showdown with the Stamps.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs caught eight passes for 73 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 27-24 win over the Redblacks.

He also got two carries for nine yards. Coombs continues to thrive as the Argos' top pass-catching option out of the backfield, racking up 28 receptions for 253 yards and a TD through five yards and putting the 24-year-old from Winnipeg firmly on pace for a career year.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs caught eight passes for 94 yards in Thursday's 33-25 loss to the Blue Bombers.

After managing just 86 receiving yards through the first three games of the year, Coombs found his rhythm with Argos quarterback Ricky Ray in Week 4. The fourth-year CFL slotback has yet to haul in more than 486 yards in a season, but he seems well on his way to establishing a new career high in 2017.

June 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs is listed as a starter for Sunday's game against the Tiger-Cats.

Coombs played a running back/slotback hybrid role for the Argonauts the last several years, and he will remain in the same spot this season.

October 16, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coombs lost three yards on his only carry but caught five passes for 34 yards in Saturday's loss to the Roughriders.

He's become a bigger part of the Argos' passing attack in recent weeks, catching 14 passes for 88 yards over the last four games. With few reliable options left at wide receiver, expect Coombs to continue seeing steady targets for the remainder of the season.
