RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford posted three receptions for 37 yards in the Eskimos' 16-15 win over the Argonauts on Friday.

Stafford was hot early before getting shut out in the second half, but he still put together a decent night overall. The 28-year-old has now exceeded last season's reception total of 20, and his 22 catches qualify as the second-highest total of his career. While D'haquille Williams is clearly Mike Reilly's top target at present, Stafford seems to have positioned himself just behind Derel Walker in the passing game hierarchy for the moment. He'll look to continue his solid season against the Alouettes in Week 7 following a Week 6 bye.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford tallied seven receptions for 98 yards in the Eskimos' 20-17 loss to the Argonauts on Saturday.

Stafford's early-season surge continued Saturday, with the 28-year-old setting new season-best marks in receptions and receiving yardage. The 28-year-old already has 19 catches for 294 yards (23.7 YPC) and a touchdown through four games, with the yardage total qualifying as the second highest of his career. The Toledo product clearly has improved rapport with quarterback Mike Reilly this season, and he's likely benefitting from the defensive attention being showered on D'haquille Williams and Derel Walker. He'll look to continue trending upward against this same Argonauts secondary in a Week 5 rematch.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford posted six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown in the Eskimos' 41-22 win over the Lions on Friday.

Stafford notched all of his catches during a prolific first half, and even though he was blanked after halftime, his numbers were all season highs. The 28-year-old has made an impact in each of the first three games, totaling 12 receptions for 196 yards and Friday's touchdown. Despite sharing the field with Derel Walker and D'haquille Williams, Stafford is still seeing a solid amount of targets, a trend that has a chance to persist if he continues to parlay them into meaningful production. Stafford will look to replicate his strong Week 3 effort against the Argonauts in Week 4.

June 23, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford caught one pass for 55 yards in Friday's 38-21 loss to the Tiger-Cats.

Stafford was actually targeted five times in the contest, but three of the plays were negated by penalties, and the other fell incomplete. He made his catch count however, when he juked the man covering him to get open for a 55-yard catch which would set up the Eskimos'second score and keep the game from turning into a blowout. Stafford is well on his way to his most productive season since 2015, when he tallied 732 yards and nine touchdowns.

June 15, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford logged five receptions for 69 yards in the Eskimos' 33-30 win over the Blue Bombers on Thursday.

Stafford ensured he wouldn't let his newfound starting opportunity go to waste, checking in second only behind the prolific Derel Walker in receptions on the night among all pass catchers. The 28-year-old has had varying degrees of opportunity over his first five CFL seasons, but he's topped out at 47 receptions and 732 receiving yards, both of which came with this same Eskimos squad in 2015. Stafford also displayed a knack for the end zone that year with nine touchdowns, and the hope is that he'll be able to replicate the feat to an extent in an offense that should afford him a solid amount of opportunity. His Week 1 tally is certainly an encouraging start in that regard, and Stafford will attempt to kick it up another notch in a Week 2 battle against the Tiger-Cats.

June 13, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford will be a starting slotback in Thursday's season opener against the Blue Bombers.

Stafford started just one game for the Eskimos a year ago, but he will match that total in Week 1 alone in 2018. He will be no better than the fourth option in Edmonton's passing attack when everyone is healthy, but that could still lead to him returning some fantasy value given the CFL-leading 5,972 passing yards the Eskimos put up in 2017.

February 1, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford agreed to a one-year extension through the 2018 season with Edmonton on Thursday.

Stafford appeared in five games for the Eskimos in 2017, totaling 20 receptions and 265 yards with a pair of touchdowns. The Columbus, Ohio native had a breakout campaign with the team in 2015, but hasn't been on the field that much in the past two seasons, spending a majority of last year on the practice squad. He will serve as organizational depth at the wide receiver position for the team in 2018.

September 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford was moved to the Eskimos' practice roster ahead of Saturday's contest with the Stampeders, Dave Campbell of 630 CHED reports.

Stafford is coming off a very productive outing Monday against Calgary, where he caught eight passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in defeat. However, with the return of Derel Walker to the starting lineup after his stint in the NFL, Kenny will be demoted onto the team's practice roster for this week.

September 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford caught eight passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 39-18 loss to the Stampeders.

The eight catches were a season high, while the TD was his second in three games. Adarius Bowman's return could end up reducing Stafford's role in the Edmonton offense, but at least for one game the two were able to co-exist and stay productive.

September 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford will start at wide receiver Monday against the Stampeders.

Stafford was listed as a reserve slotback the last couple weeks, but he will get a shot to start at wide receiver this week with Vidal Hazelton (undisclosed) sidelined. Hazelton will miss several weeks, so Stafford has an opportunity to hang onto his new spot for a while.

August 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford caught two passes for 55 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 33-26 loss to the Blue Bombers.

As has been the case for the last couple of games, Stafford didn't see a lot of targets, but he made his receptions count. The 27-year-old now has nine grabs for 181 yards and a TD in just three games, but as Edmonton's receiving corps gets healthier, Stafford's opportunities will likely dwindle.

August 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford caught three passes for 84 yards in Thursday's 27-20 win over the Redblacks.

He's emerging as a big-play threat for Mike Reilly in his second tour of duty with Edmonton, although the fact that Adarius Bowman (hamstring) and two other receivers are on the shelf at the moment likely has a lot to do with the opportunities Stafford is getting. He should remain productive as long as his competition for targets is out of the lineup.

August 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford notched four receptions for 42 yards in Friday's 33-28 win over the Ti-Cats.

The 27-year-old Toledo product had yet to see action in an Eskimos uniform since joining the team shortly before the regular season, but he was active Friday with D'haquille Williams sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Shaw has been reasonably productive (89 receptions for 1,214 yards and 12 touchdowns) in his first four CFL campaigns, one of which was spent with the Eskimos. Therefore, he'd make for a viable DFS punt play if he's active for a Week 8 showdown against the Redblacks, although Williams' return would likely send him back to the bench.

August 3, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford is listed as a reserve wide receiver on the depth chart for Friday's game against the Tiger-Cats.

Stafford has not suited up since signing with the Eskimos in mid-June, but he will get a chance to do so this week with fellow wide receiver D'haquille Williams (undisclosed) on the one-game injured list.

June 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford signed a contract with the Eskimos on Saturday.

Stafford was released by the Blue Bombers during Saturday's round of roster cuts, but it did not take him long to hook on with a new team. Stafford was assigned to Edmonton's practice squad, so it's not likely he will be active for the team's season opener.

June 17, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford was released by Winnipeg on Saturday, Ed Tait of the Blue Bombers reports

After signing a two-year deal with the Blue Bombers in January, the veteran receiver has been released. Stafford's signing came after being released during the 2016 season by Montreal, where he posted 16 receptions for 215 yards and two TDs before his departure.

January 17, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford inked a two-year contract with Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Stafford was released by Montreal partway through last season for an undisclosed reason, but managed to nab 16 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns before moving on. While the team has plenty of receiving options, the 6-foot-3 Stafford should make the receiving corps even more lethal. In his best season (2015), he tallied 47 receptions for 732 yards and nine touchdowns over 18 games, proving to be a solid scoring threat.

October 17, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford was released by the Alouettes on Monday.

The reason for Stafford's release was not provided, but he will not play again for the Alouettes this season, or any team for that matter due to a CFL rule that prevents players who sign from this point forward from playing for the rest of the 2016 campaign.

October 3, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford caught three passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Argos.

He had just 12 catches and no scores on the season coming into Sunday, so to say Stafford's production was a surprise would be an understatement. The Alouettes' passing game had been fairly quiet with Rakeen Cato under center prior to this game, so even if it proves to be a sign that Stafford's role is increasing, don't expect him to repeat this performance any time soon.

August 25, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford (toe) is listed as a reserve slotback on the depth chart for Friday's game against the Blue Bombers.

Stafford has recovered from the broken toe he suffered in Week 2 and will return to action this week. He opened the year as a starter, but will work in a reserve role for at least one week. Stafford tallied three receptions for 46 yards last time the Alouettes and Blue Bombers squared off in Week 1.

August 22, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford (toe) is expected to play in Friday's game against the Blue Bombers, the Montreal Gazette reports.

Stafford has recovered from the broken toe he suffered in Week 2, and is on track to return to the field this week. It's not immediately clear what role he will fill, but he has a chance to jump right into the starting lineup.

July 7, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford has been diagnosed with a fractured toe, which he suffered in Montreal's Week 2 loss to Ottawa.

This announcement comes a day after Stafford was put on the 6-game injured list with what was at the time an undisclosed injury. Toe fractures can take several weeks to heal, but the timeline is generally 4-to-6 weeks, so Stafford could return immediately following his stint on the injured list.

July 6, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford was placed on the 6-game injured list with an undisclosed injury, RDS.ca reports.

The nature of the injury isn't clear, but this comes at a bad time with S.J. Green suffering a season-ending knee injury and Duron Cater suspended for one game.

June 30, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Stafford gained 39 yards on five receptions in Thursday's 28-13 loss to the Redblacks.

The 26-year-old's yardage total certainly wasn't remarkable, but he did end up with the second-highest total of receptions by a wideout on the Als for the night. The extra looks were facilitated by S.J. Green's in-game leg injury, as well as Duron Carter's ejection following a third-quarter touchdown. Stafford is no stranger to playing a significant role in an offense, having hauled in 47 receptions for 732 yards and nine touchdowns in 18 starts for the Eskimos last season. If Green's injury lingers into Week 4 and Carter faces any league-imposed suspension for making contact with Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell, Stafford may be the recipient of plenty of targets in Week 4 versus Hamilton.
