Tyms signed with the Argonauts on Thursday.

Tyms was released by the Tiger-Cats on Wednesday, but he was not out of work for long. He was added to the Argonauts' practice roster, so don't expect him to make an immediate impact for his new squad.

The Tiger-Cats released Tyms on Wednesday.

Tyms logged 25 catches for 204 yards on the season for the Tiger-Cats, but had been excluded from the gameday roster in two of the team's last three contests. The veteran wideout looked like he could have a larger role in 2017 after impressing in his two games with the Tigers- Cats late in 2016, but the team's recent acquisition of Ricky Collins seemingly pushed him down the depth chart.

Tyms will not take part in Friday's matchup against the Redblacks, Drew Edwards of 3DownNation.com reports.

Tyms was originally slated to work as a reserve slotback for Week 9, but has since been scratched. He's appeared in eight games this season, catching 23 passes for 181 yards.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tyms is listed as a reserve slotback on the depth chart for Friday's matchup with the Redblacks.

Tyms tallied six receptions for 67 yards two weeks ago, but he has totaled just 114 yards over the other six games he has appeared in this season, so the coaching staff decided to switch things up this week and insert Giovanni Aprile into Tyms' spot in the starting lineup. Don't expect Tyms' production to change much as long as he is working as a backup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tyms notched six receptions for 67 yards in Friday's 33-28 loss to the Eskimos.

Tyms' move back to slotback Friday appeared to agree with him, as he equaled his season high in receptions while setting a new high-water mark in receiving yards. The Florida A & M product hadn't been able to generate consistent production as an outside receiver, but the transition inside could prove to be a positive for his fantasy value. He'll look to follow up with another strong outing against the Blue Bombers in Week 8.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tyms will start at slotback in Friday's game against the Eskimos.

Tyms has been used at wide receiver since Terrence Toliver was injured, but he has struggled to get much going on the outside, so the Tiger-Cats will see if a position switch helps him pick up the production.

Tyms notched six receptions for 41 yards in Saturday's 37-20 loss to the Roughriders.

Tyms tied with Jalen Saunders for the team co-lead in catches on a night when the Ti-Cats' offense struggled to find any type of rhythm. The team had hopes that the 28-year-old wideout could bring some playmaking ability to the air attack, but he's averaged 5.3 yards per reception over the first two games. Tyms has racked up 11 catches already, however, so he does seem to have rapport with quarterback Zach Collaros. He'll look to help the offense snap out of its early-season doldrums when Hamilton takes on the Lions in Week 4.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Tyms is on track to open the season as a starting receiver for the Tiger-Cats, the Hamilton Spectator reports.

Tyms showed promise at the end of last season, including a 100-yard effort in the postseason, and he has carried that momentum into training camp. If he can finish out the exhibition season on a high note it appears he will be in the Tiger-Cats' starting lineup for Week 1.

Tyms caught eight passes for 114 yards, both team highs, in Sunday's 24-21 loss to Edmonton in the Eastern Semifinal.

After getting a chance to shine in the final game of the regular season as the Ti-Cats rested their starters, Tyms apparently impressed the coaching staff enough to remain in the starting lineup for Sunday's playoff loss. Don't be surprised if he has a big role in Hamilton's passing game next year.

Tyms caught four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's loss to the Alouettes.

With Hamilton having already locked up their playoff spot regardless of the outcome of the game, they elected to give most of their starters plenty of rest, which gave Tyms a chance to catch his first CFL touchdown. The rookie will return to a depth role next Sunday when the Ti-Cats host Edmonton in the Eastern Semifinal.
