Byrd announced on his personal Twitter account that he's transferring from North Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Byrd found himself buried on the quarterback depth chart during his redshirt freshman campaign and likely would have entered spring camp behind both Nathan Elliott and Chazz Surratt. For that reason, he'll be granted his release from North Carolina and will likely look for quicker path to playing time elsewhere. Due to the current NCAA transfer rules, Byrd will have to sit out the 2018 campaign with his new program, but will then have three years of eligibility remaining after it.
