Connor Heyward
Running BackRB
Michigan State Spartans
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Heyward rarely received an opportunity to touch the ball in 2017, rushing just three times for 10 yards and catching four passes for 13 yards and a score. The departure of Madre London via transfer and Gerald Holmes to graduation should open some carries behind LJ Scott in 2018. Heyward looked like the most promising of the available options during the spring game, running 12 times for 48 yards and a score while hauling in two passes for 14 yards. As part of a run-heavy Michigan State offense, there's an outside chance he could gain fantasy relevance in deep leagues should the sophomore tailback garner most of the 162 carries voided by London and Holmes. However, he will have to fend off two incoming freshmen -- La'Darius Jefferson and Elijah Collins -- and a redshirt freshman in Weston Bridges during fall camp to guarantee reps this fall. Respectable rushing performance
RBMichigan State
November 25, 2018
Heyward rushed for 81 yards on 19 carries and caught four passes for 27 yards in Saturday's win over Rutgers.
Heyward has rushed for 80 or more yards in each of the last two games, but he's been held out of the end zone since Week 10 against Maryland. The sophomore back averaged 4.6 yards per carry and finished with 520 yards on the ground over 12 games and also proved effective as a pass catcher out of the backfield (32 grabs for 249 yards). Heyward should see the majority of the touches in the bowl game, although LJ Scott (undisclosed) figures to return next year, which would significantly limit Heyward's chances in 2019.
