Nigel Hayes
Reaches deal with Zalgiris
June 25, 2019
Hayes signed a contract with Zalgiris on June 12, Stefan Djordjevic of reports.
Hayes' contract is a one-year deal that contains an option for the 2020-21 season and an opt-out clause in the event any NBA opportunities arise. The American forward played nine games at the NBA level in 2017-18 before making the jump abroad last season with Turkish club Galatasaray. In 10 EuroCup contests with Galatasaray, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He'll notice stiffer competition as he moves up to the EuroLeague, though it's expected he'll have a regular spot in the Zalgiris frontcourt rotation. Before joining Zalgiris, Hayes will take part in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Los Angeles Clippers, per Jonathan Givony of reports.
