Bart Scott: Toe Still an Issue
LBFree Agent
Toe
February 24, 2014
Scott's toe, which he first injured in 2012, is still a major problem for the veteran linebacker, USA Today's Tom Pelissero reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott had toe surgery after the 2012 season and never latched on to a team for 2013. The Browns were reportedly interested in the veteran for 2014, but his toe apparently remains an issue and scared away the team. A year removed from surgery, Scott may be questioning whether he'll ever play in the NFL again. It sounds like there should be interest around the league, if he can get healthy. At this point, Scott would probably have to settle for the veteran's minimum on any potential contract.

Scott will again start at inside linebacker. Last season he recorded 66 tackles (54 solo) - his lowest since '05 - and 4.5 sacks.
Will continue to start at inside linebacker but following a disappointing season where only recording one sack Scott is no longer a reliable IDP option
Scott's situation in New York is similar to what it was in Baltimore - he's just one of several good players and the scheme isn't designed to make him a statistical star. He's a reasonable role player for IDP leagues, but not someone you have to go out of your way to acquire.
Scott will join Rex Ryan, his defensive coordinator in Baltimore, in New York. He will team with David Harris inside to provide the Jets with an impressive linebacker duo. 100 tackles are within reach in his first year in green and white.
Scott was a disappointment last year, regressing from 103 tackles, 9.5 sacks and two interceptions in 2006 to 93 tackles, one sack and zero interceptions in 2007. Expect the tackles to remain close to 100 with his sack total falling somewhere in between his 2006 and 2007 outputs.
Finally given the playing time he deserved, Scott racked up 9.5 sacks and 103 tackles in 2006. Scott also displayed his ability to drop back and picked off two passes while knocking down seven others. With Adalius Thomas gone, Scott will combine forces with Jarret Johnson to fill that void.
Had a breakout season in 2005, with 119 tackles (83 solo) and was rewarded with a three-year deal over the offseason.
The acquisition of Tommy Polley relegates Scott to a backup role.
Scott enters the season as the second string middle linebacker.
