2023 Fantasy Outlook
Williams has been a key part of the Jets' defensive line since he was selected in the first round of the 2019 draft, though 2023 marked a breakout season for him. He played in a career-high 16 games and 665 snaps. While that didn't lead to a significant increase in raw tackle output, Williams posted 12 sacks after combining to record 15.5 sacks across his first three campaigns. New York rewarded him with a four-year, $96 million contract. Presumably, Williams will remain a big part of the team's pass rush as a result and is a decent bet to remain productive even if he can't exactly replicate 2022's stat line. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Just 5.5 sacks in 2023
Williams finished the 2023 season with 5.5 sacks among his 62 tackles (39 solo) while adding an interception among his three passes defensed.
ANALYSIS
Even with 2.0 sacks in the season finale against the Patriots, Williams finished with his lowest total in that category since his 2.5-sack rookie season in 2019. The standout defensive tackle was named to the Pro Bowl nonetheless, as Williams set a new career high in tackles and picked up his first interception in the Week 6 win over the Eagles. Williams' presence on the interior frees up the team's pass rushers on the edge, and the engine that drives New York's defense will be back in 2024.

Nabs long-term deal
Williams signed a four-year, $96 million extension with the Jets on Thursday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edholm credits NFL Network colleagues Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport with the news that the deal includes $66 million in guaranteed money. Additionally, the new contract boasts the highest total value among all interior defensive linemen and makes the 2019 first-round pick the second-highest annual earner at the defensive tackle position behind Aaron Donald. Williams positioned himself for the massive payday with his best season as a pro in 2022, as he tied a career high with 55 tackles while also posting a career-best 12 sacks.

As easy as it is to look at Williams’ numbers and see nothing special, the finer details say an
eruption is not far off. He just turned 24 in December and played through a shoulder issue last
year, yet his per-snap production was very good, and if his snap count increases so will the
other stats. If you prorate his stats from the last two years over 750 snaps you get about 75
tackles and nine sacks. It won’t be long now.
