Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Tuesday's 10-game slate is chock full of opportunities to get the best value. Let's look at some of the best options to build your lineup...

Goalie

Thomas Greiss, NYI vs. VAN ($26)

Greiss has made multiple appearances in this column throughout the season and it's because he keeps presenting excellent value in juicy matchups -- despite attaining five straight wins and getting to face the league's 24th-ranked offense in the form of the Canucks on Tuesday, the German goalie is still seeing basement-level pricing. Add in the fact that the Islanders offense has been very hot itself, and Greiss has the makings of a steal.

Goalie to Avoid

Michal Neuvirth, PHI vs. SJ ($35)

If Greiss was massively underpriced, then Neuvirth lies at the other end of the spectrum in the massively overpriced realm. The 29-year-old's metrics aren't bad on the surface, but keep in mind that he's only seen action in seven contests this season and has allowed four goals or more in three of his last four appearances. The Sharks have struggled offensively, but they've looked better on the road, which could be disastrous for Neuvirth.

Center

Jonathan Marchessault, VGK vs. DAL ($18)

Marchessault has been hot as can be lately, recording four goals, seven assists, and an outstanding plus-9 rating over his last five contests. Additionally, the 26-year-old has been one of the lucky ones in Vegas this season, attaining a 22.2 shooting percentage on home ice. Marchessault's price certainly has not caught up with his production yet, and he'll get to face Ben Bishop, who has been known to allow deluges of scoring, on Tuesday.

Center to Avoid

Tyler Seguin, DAL @ VGK ($29)

Seguin has several factors working against him Tuesday. For one, he's been significantly less effective playing in away games this season, recording eight points and a minus-10 rating in 12 contests, and Vegas has already proven to be a difficult place to play for visitors. For another, the Golden Knights are finding a defensive rhythm with Malcom Subban back in net. At his current price, Seguin isn't worth betting on in Sin City.

Wing

Chris Kreider, NYR vs. FLA ($17)

The Rangers have finally found their footing lately and Kreider has been a big reason -- the Massachusetts native has four points and a plus-3 rating in his last four contests and has seen 3:11 of average ice time with the power-play unit on the campaign. The Panthers come into Tuesday's contest allowing 3.45 goals per game and on the second half of a back-to-back, giving Kreider nice value.

Patrick Maroon, EDM vs. ARI ($15)

Maroon's price will allow you to save a whole lot on your budget and the excellent opportunity in front of him could pay big dividends Tuesday. The 29-year-old shoots the puck a lot -- 33 times in the last nine games, to be exact -- and sees time with a power-play unit that has provided some boost. Against an anemic Arizona defense that averages 3.62 goals allowed per game, Maroon has a good chance to get on the scoresheet.

Wings to Avoid

Jonathan Huberdeau, FLA @ NYR ($22)

Huberdeau was a big piece of Florida's explosive offense at the beginning of the campaign but has recently fallen into a slump, recording just one assist and a minus-4 rating in the last six contests. Coming off a hard fought game in New Jersey on Monday night and facing a resurgent Henrik Lundqvist on Tuesday, Huberdeau is not a recommended play here.

Artemi Panarin, CLS vs. CAR ($22)

Panarin has continued to struggle on his new team and now has just 15 points through the season's first 23 games. The 26-year-old Russian has been less effective at home than on the road this season and has been completely ineffective against Carolina thus far, posting no points and a minus-2 ratings playing the Hurricanes twice earlier in the campaign. He can't be trusted at this price point.

Defense

Mattias Ekholm, NSH vs. CHI ($20)

Ekholm has been on fire of late, netting five goals, notching three helpers, and adding a plus-5 rating in his last seven contests. It's nice to see the Swedish blueliner get involved offensively, but his ability to block shots and be solid defensively is what allows him to see almost 25 minutes of ice time per night. He's a nice play against a Chicago team on the second half of a back-to-back.

Dougie Hamilton, CGY vs. TOR ($18)

The one thing that has always stood out about Hamilton's game is his willingness to go on the offensive, as his 34 shots on goal in the last nine games will attest. The Toronto native still gets plenty of involvement with the power-play unit and has managed eight points and a plus-5 rating in his career against his hometown team, so feel free to roll him out as a mid-priced option Tuesday.

Defensemen to Avoid

Victor Hedman, TB @ BUF ($23)

Hedman has been very effective on the power play this season, accumulating eight of his 17 points there, but that might not play into his favor Tuesday -- the Sabres, while mostly defensively inept, have been surprisingly effective on the penalty kill, finding success 81.7 percent of the time. The 26-year-old is also riding a six-game goalless streak and isn't worth the coin for this slate.

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. TB ($19)

The defensive options don't get much better at the other end of the ice in this game, as Ristolainen is still looking for his first goal of the season. The young Finn isn't likely to get it against a Tampa Bay team that has been stout defensively and the fact that the Lightning have also been one of the best offensive teams in the league could hurt Ristolainen's already mediocre plus-minus rating.
