FantasyDraft NHL: Wednesday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

We are roughly a quarter of the way through the NHL season. The sample sizes for most players no longer seem too small. That should allow you to feel more confident in making your daily fantasy selections. However, if you want some more help, here are some players I like from Wednesday's four games.

GOALIE

Montreal Canadiens, MON vs. OTT ($16,000): It seems like the time off to heal has done Carey Price good. In two starts since returning he has only allowed one goal on 74 shots. Meanwhile, Ottawa has only scored 2.30 goals per game in November, and the Senators have lost six in a row.

CENTER

Brayden Schenn, STL vs. ANA ($12,400): Schenn has been red hot to start the season, as he's notched 30 points in 24 games. That includes eight points on the power play, and he's tallied at least 19 points with the extra man in his last three campaigns. The Ducks have allowed a league-high 36.5 shots on net per contest, and they have a team GAA of 2.96.

Jonathan Drouin, MON vs. OTT ($11,000): Drouin only has four goals through 24 games, but that's with a 6.5 shooting percentage that is likely to improve. Plus, he has 12 assists, not to mention seven power-play points. The 22-year-old tallied 26 points with the extra man while averaging 3:05 in power-play time last season, and this year he's averaged 3:49. Ottawa has a 3.18 team GAA, thanks in part to a .892 team save percentage.

WING

Alexander Steen, STL vs. ANA ($11,000): Steen has 12 points in 18 games, and over his last six games he's tallied six points. That includes four on the power play, and he's played 3:02 per tilt with the extra man. This is despite the fact the veteran winger only has a 6.8 shooting percentage. As previously noted, the Ducks have given up a whopping 36.5 shots on net per contest. Steen should be able to put some pucks on net, and with a little more luck one might go in.

Kyle Connor, WPG at COL ($10,900): Connor has started 56.5 percent of his shift in the offensive zone, most of any Jet. The 20-year-old's shots have increased recently to boot, as he's tallied 27 shots on goal in his last nine games. They've paid off, as he notched eight points in those contests. The Avalanche have gotten slight better defensively compared to last season when they had the worst team GAA in the league, but they've still given up 3.18 goals per contest.

Ondrej Palat, TAM at BOS ($9,100): The Lightning's top line has been outstanding, but their second line of Palat, Brayden Point, and Yanni Gourde has been really impressive as well. With a power-play assist Monday, Palat now has 15 points through 24 games (five on the power play). He also has five points in his last five tilts. Though Anton Khudobin has gotten off to an unexpectedly hot start for the Bruins in net, likely starter Tuukka Rask has a 2.91 GAA and a .899 save percentage.

DEFENSE

Colton Parayko, STL vs. ANA ($9,900): Parayko has been hot recently, as he has seven points in his last six tilts. He also has 18 shots on goal in his last five games, and overall he has 65 shots on net in 24 contests. That's notable heading into this matchup. In case you've forgotten, Anaheim has allowed a league-high 36.5 shots on goal per game.

Torey Krug, BOS vs. TAM ($8,800): Normally the Lightning aren't a favorable matchup, but in this instance Tampa Bay is on the road for the second night of a back-to-back. The Lightning have only played four games this season on zero days of rest, but they have given up 16 goals across those games. Either they have to ask Andrei Vasilevskiy to play on consecutive days, or they have to rely on Peter Budaj (3.75 GAA, .867 save percentage). Krug has at least 39 points (and 14 power-play points) in his four full seasons. So far this year, he has 13 points through 18 contests.
