Drops decision to Sijara Eubanks at UFC 230
FlyweightUFC
November 3, 2018
Modafferi lost to Sijara Eubanks via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 230 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi didn't have to accept this fight after Eubanks missed weight on Friday, but Modafferi is never one to pass up the opportunity to get in there and test her skills. She did a decent job of remaining competitive despite the fact she was giving up a ton of brute strength to Eubanks. Modafferi is one of the true pioneers of women's MMA, but she's a poor athlete and she has little power in her hands. There is little reason to be excited about the 36-year-old moving forward.

Will fight Sijara Eubanks
FlyweightUFC
October 10, 2018
Modafferi will fight Sijara Eubanks at UFC 230 on Nov. 3, MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi will be stepping into the Octagon against Sijara Eubanks, who was originally expected to take on Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant women's flyweight championship at the event. However, that fight was surprisingly scratched, which allows Modafferi to face off against Eubanks instead. Modafferi is coming off a TKO win over Barb Honchak and will head into this fight with a three-inch height advantage and a two-inch reach advantage over Eubanks.

Modafferi defeated Barb Honchak via TKO (punches) at 3:32 of Round 2 at the TUF 27 Finale on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
On the feet, neither fighter was really able to get going. However, on the ground, Modafferi had a big advantage. In both the first and second round, she ended up on top and went to work with her ground and pound. In the second round, Honchak went for a body throw. Modafferi held her balance and ended up on top in the mount. From there, she threw elbows until the referee stopped the fight.

Modafferi will take on Barb Honchak in a flyweight bout at the TUF: 27 Finale on July 6 in Las Vegas, Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi was a replacement finalist on last season of The Ultimate Fighter, where she came up short against Nicco Montano for the inaugural women's flyweight championship. It was her second opportunity on the show after losing to Raquel Pennington in the Season 18 finale all the way back in November of 2013. The 35-year-old will now get one more shot, facing a 10-3 Honchak with what could be her UFC future on the line. The two did fight once back 2011, when Modafferi was in the midst of a six-fight losing streak. Honchak came up victorious via rear-naked choke, but this should be an entirely different matchup nearly seven years later.
Comes up short in her bid for the inaugural UFC women's flyweight title

Modafferi lost to Nicco Montano via unanimous decision (45-50, 46-49, 46-49) at the TUF 26 Finale on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Modafferi received this title shot on extremely late notice after Montano's original opponent, Sijara Eubanks, failed to make weight. "The Happy Warrior" tried her best to make the most of the unlikely opportunity, but in the end she could not pull out the decision. She had some success early with her striking and threatened with multiple submissions on the ground. However, Montano's striking game was too polished. She continued to beat Modafferi to the punch and got the better of the exchanges. Fighting for a UFC title is clearly a significant accomplishment for Modafferi who began fighting in 2003 and has competed for Jewels, Smackgirl, Strikeforce, Invicta FC and the UFC.
To face Nicco Montano on Friday

November 30, 2017
Modafferi will take the place of Sijara Eubanks at the TUF 26 Finale and face Nicco Montano for the woman's flyweight belt on December 1, Damon Martin of UFC.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Eubanks was pulled from the bout due to a weight cut that wound up requiring a hospital visit, and in her absence, Modafferi will get the opportunity to take home the first ever UFC woman's flyweight title. "The Happy Warrior" comes in after losing to Eubanks in the semifinals of the TUF 26 title tournament by unanimous decision. Professionally, she holds a 21-13 career record, with three victories coming via KO/TKO, five from submissions and 13 from decisions. On the flip side, Montano topped Barb Honchak in the other semifinal, and held a 3-2 career record prior to this tournament.
