Fortunate to win in Sac-Town
MiddleweightUFC
July 13, 2019
Roberson defeated Wellington Turman via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
On a night with multiple poor scorecards, this was the worst of all. Roberson should have lost despite finishing the bout with a 79-38 edge in total strikes landed. "Baby K" started quickly. He landed 23 strikes in Round 1 and then proceeded to score with just 27 strikes combined in Rounds 2 and 3. His game planning and cardio were questionable, and his takedown defense (Turman landed 4-of-7 attempts) was even worse. To Roberson's credit, Turman had him in multiple deep submission attempts and the 28-year-old persevered to see the final bell. Roberson is athletic, but he simply has too many holes in his game to be considered at legitimate contender at 185 pounds. He has alternated wins and losses in his past five bouts.

Added to UFC Sacramento card
MiddleweightUFC
May 10, 2019
Roberson will fight John Phillips at UFC Sacramento on July 13, Nolan King of Flocombat reports.
ANALYSIS
Roberson was taken out by Glover Teixeira via submission in his last fight in mid-January, but that shouldn't come as a surprise given that he was added as a replacement on short notice. He will get a full camp to prepare this time around and will put his 7-2 career record on the line versus Phillips, who has lost all three of his fights since joining the UFC promotion.
Can't close deal against Glover Teixeira
MiddleweightUFC
January 19, 2019
Roberson lost to Glover Teixeira via submission (arm-triangle) at 3:21 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Roberson is going to have all sorts of problems falling asleep on Saturday after letting this one slip away. He appeared to have Teixeira finished after smashing him with countless elbows during an exchange along the fence but Glover managed to survive and Roberson found himself tapping out just minutes later. Roberson took this fight on a week's notice so it's difficult to get on him too much, but he let one slip away here against a high-profile opponent. "Baby K" has now alternated wins and losses in his first four UFC contests.
Gets Glover Teixeira on short notice
MiddleweightUFC
January 13, 2019
Roberson will step in on short notice and move up to light heavyweight to face Glover Teixeira at UFC on ESPN+ 1 on Saturday in Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Roberson picked up his second UFC win against Jack Marshman back in November, but it was a relatively weak fantasy performance. He did not get a stoppage, but received fantasy points from 34 significant strikes, two takedowns and three passes. He's only landed 2.53 significant strikes per minute over three UFC fights, which isn't a particularly fantasy-friendly mark in terms of striking volume. Teixeira will easily be the toughest test to date for Roberson, especially give the fact he'll be moving up to a weight class 20 pounds heavier on only a week's notice. Teixeira's best fighting days may be behind him, but look for Roberson to enter as an underdog against a much more experienced fighter. He'll also concede slight height and reach advantages to Teixeira, but they are not as pronounced as one would think for someone moving up in weight class.
Easily decisions Jack Marshman at UFC 230
MiddleweightUFC
November 3, 2018
Roberson defeated Jack Marshman via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27) at UFC 230 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Seemingly twice as fast as his over matched opponent on the feet, Roberson pounded Marshman on the feet without fear of eating return fire. It's mildly disappointing that Roberson wasn't able to get the stoppage considering how much more talented he is than Marshman, but it was a solid effort nonetheless. A win over Marshman ultimately tells us nothing about Roberson moving forward, so we'll see how the 28-year-old fares his next time out.
Booked for UFC 230
MiddleweightUFC
August 23, 2018
Roberson is scheduled to fight Jack Marshman in a middleweight bout at UFC 230 in New York on Nov. 3, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Roberson is coming off the first loss of his professional MMA career, as he fell at UFC 224 to Cezar Ferreira via technical submission in the first round. That put an end to a winning streak of six fights for the 27-year-old in what was just his second fight under contract with UFC. His opponent, Marshman, boasts a 22-7 record overall but is just 2-2 in UFC bouts.
