Sijara Eubanks
Takes decision at UFC 230 after missing weight Friday
November 3, 2018
Eubanks defeated Roxanne Modafferi via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 230 on Saturday in New York City.
The clean sweep on the judge's scorecards aside, it was a mediocre performance from Eubanks that was made all the more concerning by the fact she missed weight again on Friday. She started quickly before accomplishing shockingly little over the course of the second half of the bout. Eubanks is one of the more powerful flyweights on the roster, but she has serious conditioning issues and she runs her mouth a lot for a fighter that has accomplished virtually nothing in the sport. Don't be surprised if the UFC brass forces her to move up to bantamweight for her next fight. Eubanks would be far less interesting at 135 pounds and she isn't all that relevant at flyweight, either.

Receives new opponent for UFC 230
October 10, 2018
Eubanks will fight Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 230 on Nov. 3, reports.
Eubanks was originally expected to fight Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant women's flyweight championship, but that fight was surprisingly scratched earlier this week. That said, it didn't take long for Eubanks to find a new opponent, as she now gets Roxanne Modafferi at that same event. Both fighters are coming off their own respective victory, with Eubanks defeating Lauren Murphy and Modafferi taking out Barb Honchak. Eubanks checks in at a three-inch height disadvantage and a two-inch reach disadvantage to Modafferi.
Fight against Shevchenko scrapped
October 9, 2018
Eubanks will no longer face Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 230 on Nov. 3, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
Eubanks had been on the verge of an opportunity of a lifetime, but UFC brass will ultimately go in a different direction with the main event of their annual Madison Square Garden event. They had previously been without a title fight despite an excellent card, and felt the need to create one, even if it came with little buzz. They've since added a heavyweight bout between Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis, and as a result, will move Shevchenko back to her originally-planned matchup against Joanna Jedrzejcqyk. Eubanks will likely fight for the 125-pound belt at a day in the future, but it seems as though it won't be happening in 2018.
Headlining UFC 230 against Valentina Shevchenko
October 2, 2018
Eubanks will fight Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 230 for the vacant women's flyweight championship in New York City on Nov. 3, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
Eubanks was originally scheduled to compete for the women's flyweight title in December of 2017 after making it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter (season 26), but she was forced to withdraw after weight cutting issues ended up hospitalizing her. She'll get her shot at redemption in November against an elite opponent in Shevchenko who is 3-2 in her last five fights. Both of those losses came in the bantamweight division to current champion Amanda Nunes, but Shevchenko was dominant in her flyweight debut, scoring a second-round win over Priscila Cachoeira via submission (rear-naked choke) in February. Eubanks, on the other hand, defeated Lauren Murphy via unanimous decision in her first official UFC fight in June. Matchup-wise, Shevchenko will easily be the most difficult challenge Eubanks has ever seen. The striking of "Bullet" is nearly unparalleled in all female divisions, and Shevchenko also brings formidable wrestling and grappling to the table. While Eubanks has five professional fights under her belt, Shevchenko has been facing top-tier opponents throughout her time in the UFC. Look for Eubanks to enter as a sizable betting underdog.
Gets by Lauren Murphy in first official UFC fight
June 1, 2018
Eubanks defeated Lauren Murphy via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Utica, New York.
Eubanks's first official UFC fight was an easy victory. Scheduled to fight for the inaugural Women's Flyweight Championship in November, Eubanks was forced to withdraw due to weight cutting issues that left her hospitalized. She made the 126-pound limit on Thursday and rolled over Murphy on Friday. Eubanks is reckless and has conditioning issues, but she's very strong and is fighting in a division with shockingly little depth. Eubanks is closing in on a title shot despite the fact her career record is barely over .500 at 3-2.
