Molly McCann

Continues roll in Boston
October 18, 2019
McCann defeated Diana Belbita via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Friday in Boston.
McCann's strong run continues. Although all three judge's scored this bout 30-26, a 30-25 was most definitely in play given McCann's dominant Round 2. In the second frame alone, McCann came close on a submission attempt in addition to unloading some vicious ground-and-pound. All told, McCann scored on 5-of-14 takedown attempts. The Brit has won three fights in a row since dropping her company debut to Gillian Robertson in May 2018. If you want to be picky, you can say McCann is having trouble finishing fights -- all her UFC victories have come via decision -- but a win is a win and the 29-year-old is displaying no signs of slowing down. McCann signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC in July. The early returns are positive.

McCann defeated Ariane Lipski via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night 154 in Greenvillem South Carolina on Saturday.
It looked early like McCann was going to get stuck on the outside against the longer opponent, but she was able to create angles for her heavy left hook and exit out to avoid damage as the fight wore on. "Meatball" may have surprised her opponent by throwing in a few late takedowns, landing heavy ground and pound at the end of Rounds 1 and 2 to ensure she took the decision. McCann has seemingly come a long way since being toyed with and subbed by Gillian Robertson in her UFC debut, as she is showing with every passing fight that she is more than just a boxer. She improves to 9-2 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
