KO's Aspen Ladd, title shot next?
July 13, 2019
De Randamie defeated Aspen Ladd via TKO (punches) at 0:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sacramento.
De Randamie is now tied with Ronda Rousey for the fastest knockout in UFC women's bantamweight history. Referee Herb Dean -- who has had a rough last few months -- likely jumped in just a tad early, but that doesn't take away from what was a brilliant performance from GDR. She clocked the previously undefeated Ladd with a perfectly placed right hand and one follow-up shot to the chest. Ladd didn't appear to be completely out of it, but Dean had seen enough. The winner of five fights in a row dating back to November 2013, de Randamie deserves to be next in line for Amanda Nunes's UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship. GDR's most recent setback was a TKO loss at the hands of Nunes. De Randamie won't be able to match Nunes's power, but she can match her in technique and volume. Nunes would be a hefty favorite if the rematch comes to fruition, but it would be an interesting and worthwhile match to consider.
Pinned against Ladd in Sacramento
May 29, 2019
De Randamie will take on Aspen Ladd in a featherweight bout at UFC Sacramento on July 13, Nolan King of Flocombat reports.
With the veteran De Randamie set to take on the undefeated and up-and-comer Aspen Ladd, it's hardly surprising that this bout is being booked as the main event in Sacramento. De Randamie is coming off her first fight in nearly two years, when she defeated Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 139. De Randamie has won four straight fights in the Octagon since 2015, but she will certainly have her work cut out for her against Ladd and her 8-0 professional record.
Returns from 21-month layoff with win over Raquel Pennington
November 10, 2018
De Randamie defeated Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
21 months after defeating Holly Holm to become the first ever UFC Women's Featherweight Champion, de Randamie finally returned to action on Saturday. She looked good, but not great. She wasn't landing with the regularity we have become accustomed to and she never had Pennington in any real trouble. So while the end result was an easy win, it wasn't the dominant return effort that many were expecting. De Randamie will turn 35 years old in April, so she is going to have to be extremely active moving forward if she ever wants to get back into the title picture.
Opponent fails to make weight for UFC Denver
November 9, 2018
De Randamie's opponent, Raquel Pennington, failed to make weight for the pair's upcoming fight at UFC Denver on Saturday, reports.
Pennington waited til the end of her allotted window but nevertheless missed weight by two pounds. It remains to be seen if the bout will take place as scheduled and how much Pennington will be fined.
Draws Raquel Pennington for Denver
August 9, 2018
De Randamie will fight Raquel Pennington in a bantamweight matchup during UFC Fight Night in Denver on Nov. 10 at the Pepsi Center, Damon Martin of reports.
De Randamie controversially defeated Holly Holm to become the first UFC women's featherweight champion, but hasn't competed since. She was eventually stripped of that title due to a refusal to fight Cris Cyborg -- a decision that could very well define her UFC career. She was later scheduled to fight Marion Reneau, but ultimately had to withdraw and have hand surgery, which she is said to have recovered from. De Randamie will now turn her focus to Pennington, who is fresh off a loss in a title opportunity against Amanda Nunes. Despite a rocky couple of years, a win over Pennington could get "The Iron Lady" right back in the title conversation. She'll hold height and reach advantages in this matchup, but it will be Pennington with the edge in volume striking and takedown average.
