Brown will hire an agent and remain in the 2018 NBA Draft, Michael Scotto of The Athletic reports.

While Brown's sophomore season at Miami was cut short by a foot injury after just 19 games, the combo guard is still viewed as a promising NBA prospect after an impressive freshman campaign. Brown's draft stock still likely took a hit after shooting just 41 percent from the floor and 27 percent from behind the arc last season, but isn't stopping him from pursuing an NBA career at this time.

Bruce Brown: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

March 22, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown (foot) has declared for the 2018 NBA Draft, but will not hire an agent.

Brown averaged 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 19 games during his sophomore campaign at Miami. The guard struggled to live up to high expectations stemming from his freshman year, only shooting 41 percent from the floor and hitting just 27 percent of his 3-point attempts after making 35 percent in 2016-17. Brown wound up missing the last six weeks of the season after undergoing surgery on his left foot at the end of January, which could raise question marks for scouts heading into the draft. Since he didn't hire an agent, Brown still has the ability to return to Miami this fall if he doesn't receive the feedback that he is hoping for.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown (foot) has been cleared to begin rehabbing for a return and is expected to dress for Thursday's NCAA Tournament opener against Loyola-Chicago, Christy Chirinos of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. However, he's not expected to play in the game.

Considering coach Jim Larranaga indicated Monday that Brown would sit out, it seems unlikely that designation has changed at this point. The fact that he's been cleared to begin rehabbing the injury provides some hope that he will be able to rejoin the action sooner rather than later, but the Hurricanes will need to advance in the tournament for him to have a chance at doing so.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown (foot) has not been medically cleared to play as of yet and will not participate in Thursday's contest against Loyola Chicago, Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post reports.

When asked if Brown could play Thursday if he was cleared Monday morning, coach Jim Larranaga stated "no". Brown has been in a boot for six weeks, and could need around six weeks of rehab before he's ready to return. This isn't a great sign for Miami, and it seems likely that he won't be ready in time to return for the NCAA Tournament.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown (foot) will be reevaluated by team doctors Monday, Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post reports.

While this rules out Brown for the ACC Tournament, the timing of his visit with team doctors opens the door for a possible return during the NCAA Tournament. Brown has been sidelined since the end of January with a stress fracture in his foot and was given an initial timetable of six weeks. If that timetable holds and Brown's appointment goes well Monday, the Hurricanes could be getting one of their top players back in the fold for the Big Dance. A further update on Brown's status figures to be made available following his doctor's visit.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown will undergo surgery on his left foot that will cost him approximately six weeks, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

A centerpiece for the Hurricanes, Brown's injury will have major implications for the team's rotation moving forward. With the sophomore's timetable keeping him out through the regular season and potentially the conference tournament, Dejan Vasiljevic, Chris Lykes, Ja'Quan Newton, and Ebuka Izundu are all candidates to see additional minutes in his absence.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals Wednesday against Louisville.

Brown hit only 2-of-10 from the floor, including 0-of-4 from 3-point range where he's only been 27.3 percent shooter this season. Brown hasn't taken a leap in scoring many expected, but his 7.1 rebounds from the guard position keep him relevant in most formats.

January 4, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Brown supplied nine points (4-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt), nine rebounds, four blocks, three steals, and two assists in an upset loss to Georgia Tech on Wednesday.

While Wednesday night's game was a poor offensive performance for Brown and the Hurricanes, the sophomore was productive on the defensive end. Brown set a career high with his four blocks, while also tying his career best with three steals. The 6-5 guard is putting up 10.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on the season. Brown has percentages have dropped to 43 percent from the field, 26 percent from three, and 55 percent from the foul-line. Miami's next game will be on Sunday when they host Florida State.
