McGusty will transfer to Miami, Jeff Goodman of ESPN reports.

McGusty spent his first two collegiate seasons with Oklahoma and is coming off a sophomore campaign where he averaged 8.0 points and 1.9 rebounds across 18.9 minutes. That workload was nearly six minutes less than his average during his freshman season, so McGusty will likely look for a larger role as a member of Miami once available to play. Considering the current NCAA transfer rules, McGusty will need to sit out the upcoming campaign before having two years of eligibility remaining at the start of the 2019-20 season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty has announced he will transfer from Oklahoma, ESPN's Jeff Borzello reports.

McGusty saw a drop in nearly every statistical category between his freshman and sophomore seasons, likely due to record-high usage rates of freshman Trae Young. He even made his way into the starting lineup for the last six games of the season, and had an impressive 22 points on the road against Kansas on Feb. 19. Even with Young departing and a significant amount of shots set to open up, McGusty will explore his options on the transfer market. The 6-5 guard should have plenty of suitors, whether in his home state of Texas or elsewhere.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Oklahoma head coach Lon Kruger said that McGusty (illness) will play in the Sooners' first-round NCAA tournament game Thursday against Rhode Island, Jon Rothstein of FanRagSports.com reports.

The sophomore guard was absent from practice earlier this week with an illness, and though it's unknown if he has made a full recovery to this point, Oklahoma is apparently confident that McGusty will be in good enough condition to provide the team with some quality minutes off the bench. Over 31 games this season, McGusty is averaging 8.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per contest while knocking down 34.7 percent of his three-point attempts.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty did not practice Monday due to an illness, Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman reports.

It's unclear if the illness will have any effect on McGusty's status for the Sooners' first round matchup of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, but more should be known closer to tipoff. If McGusty is unable to play against Rhode Island, look for Jordan Shepherd to see some increased run.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty scored 18 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) in the win over Iowa State on Friday.

The 6-5 sophomore bumped up his playing time in his last four games to 28.8 minutes. He scored 22 points in the loss to Kansas on Feb. 19, but only provided 10 points in the two following games. McGusty can hit 3-pointers in bunches and could be a factor in the Big 12 tournament, which will start on Wednesday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty equaled his season high with 22 points (9-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT) with three rebounds in the loss to Kansas on Monday.

Coach Lon Kruger is looking for answers to help the Sooners snap a now six-game losing streak. McGusty moved into the starting lineup and had a nice shooting game. In his last three games, the sophomore is averaging 14.7 points on 64.0 percent from the field.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty provided 13 points (3-5 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and a rebound off the bench in an 88-78 loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, this was the first time McGusty has scored in double figures since Jan. 6. The sophomore also was just coming off back-to-back goose eggs while logging a total of 10 minutes. The Sooners have now lost four straight games, so Trae Young needs all the help he can get. Oklahoma needs McGusty to get back to his play during a six game stretch where he averaged 14.3 points and 2.2 three-pointers. Their next contest will be Saturday against Texas.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McGusty is starting Tuesday's game against Baylor, Toby Rowland of Sportstalk Network 1400 AM reports.

Christian James is dealing with the flu, so McGusty will start in his place. Over 20 games this season, McGusty has averaged 8.0 points and 2.2 rebounds over 16.8 minutes per game. Should James need to miss Saturday's game against Texas, McGusty could be in line for another start.
