Young announced Tuesday in a personal essay published by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that he would forgo his final three seasons at Oklahoma and enter the 2018 NBA Draft.

Though his whirlwind freshman campaign ended in disappointing fashion following Oklahoma's late-season collapse, Young was undoubtedly college basketball's most buzzworthy player in 2017-18. Despite his efficiency taking a major hit during conference play, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound point guard finished the season as Division 1's leading scorer (27.4 points per game) and assist man (8.7 per game) while canning 118 three-pointers. Young's lack of size and length as well as his downturn in performance against higher-caliber college competition will likely keep him outside the first five picks in the draft, but his sublime passing and outside shooting skills should be enough for him to get selected in the back half of the lottery.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young provided 28 points (9-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven assists and five rebounds in Thursday's OT loss to Rhode Island.

Young scored a game-high 28 points and dished out a game-high seven assists too, but neither were enough to carry the Sooners into the second round of the NCAA Tournament over No. 7 seed Rhode Island. Debatably college basketball's biggest star this season, the freshman guard has been the talk of a top NBA Draft lottery pick since crashing onto the national stage back in November. Young finished the year as the first player to ever lead the NCAA in both scoring (27.4 ppg) and assists (8.7 apg) since assists became and official statistic. Though Young has yet to officially announce his intention to declare for the NBA Draft, it's hard to see a scenario in which the star freshman returns to Oklahoma for his sophomore season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young scored 22 points (7-21 FG, 5-13 3pt, 3-3 FT) with five assists, three rebounds, and two steals in the loss to Oklahoma State in the Big 12 tournament on Wednesday.

The Sooners will have to await their March fate. They did not help themselves by losing eight of their last 10 games and Young struggled throughout. The nation's leading scorer only put up 20 points or more twice in his last five games and his 3-point conversion rate fell to 36.1 percent.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young ended his slump with 28 points (7-10 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 8-10 FT), seven assists, and five rebounds in the win over Kansas State on Saturday.

Young had been really struggling from the perimeter. His penchant for taking Stephen Curry-type 3-pointers was not helping the Sooner offense as well. His 11 field goal attempts were his fewest since he took just nine in the Jan. 23 win over Kansas. The freshman had five turnovers again and has had at least five in every Big 12 game except two. The Sooners head to Baylor on Tuesday. Young had 44 points in the Jan. 30 win over the Bears.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young was held to a season-low 11 points (3-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) with nine assists and five turnovers in the loss to Kansas on Monday.

In the Sooners' six-game losing streak, Young has converted just 33.6 percent from the field and 19.6 percent of his 3-pointers. He is capable of hitting very difficult shots, but they have not been dropping of late. The freshman will look to break the slump on Saturday against Kansas State. He had 20 points and six assists in the loss to the Wildcats on Jan. 16.

February 17, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young had 26 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in Saturday's home loss to Texas.

While the 26 points stand out, it was another shaky shooting performance from Young. He was 7-for-21 from the floor and 3-for-10 from beyond the arc. Young started 1-for-7 in the first half, including 0-for-3 from three-point range to extend his drought to 1-for-20 dating back to last weekend's game against Iowa State. Young's recent struggles have magnified the lack of production Oklahoma gets from its supporting cast as the Sooners have dropped eight of their last 10 games.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young was held to 19 points (4-16 FG, 0-9 3Pt, 11-11 FT) with seven assists in the loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday. He had six turnovers.

In his last three road games, Young has converted just 3-of-31 (9.7 percent) from 3-point land. The Sooners have swooned to four straight losses with three coming on the road. They began the losing streak against Texas against whom they will play on Saturday. Young had 19 points and 14 assists in the Feb. 3 loss.

February 6, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Young scored 32 points (10-20 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 8-9 FT) but only had a season-low one assist and six turnovers in the loss to West Virginia on Monday. He played despite being ill.

Young is the type of superstar to which we yawn at a 32-point game. The freshman had not been held below five assists prior to Monday. He appears to shoot more efficiently at home and has made better than half of his field goals in his last four home games, while shooting below 40 percent in his last four road contests. This trend will be put to task on Saturday at Iowa State where Young could dominate again.
