Martin was spotted last week walking around without the aid of a scooter or walking boot on his left foot and said he expects to be at full speed by next week and participating in team drills by July, Mark Giannotto of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Martin was in a cast for the final few weeks of the past season after undergoing surgery in February to address a Lisfranc fracture in the foot. After requiring the procedure, the expectation was that Martin would be sidelined for more than four months, but it seems the incoming senior is recovering quicker than Memphis may have anticipated. Martin indicated he doesn't expect to face any restrictions ahead of the 2018-19 season, with the guard likely to play a big role for the Tigers under first-year coach Penny Hardaway. Prior to missing the final six games of the past campaign, Martin paced the American Athletic Conference in scoring (18.9 points per game) while chipping in 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin (foot) will likely undergo surgery and could remain sidelined up to four months, John Martin of 92.9 ESPN reports.

Martin skipped the second half of Thursday's game against Houston because of the injury and it appears the issue will cost him much more than that. The junior point guard can be expected to miss the remainder of 2017-18 and will now take aim at rejoining the action next season. Kareem Brewton figures to take over the majority of minutes at point guard in his absence.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin is dealing with a swollen foot and will not return to Thursday's game against Houston, Jason Smith of ESPN 92.9 FM reports.

Martin went back to the locker room with five minutes left in the first half and returned to the bench after halftime in a walking boot and sweats. Before he was sidelined, Martin recorded nine points, one rebound and an assist in 14 minutes. Look for more updates on Martin's status to come in the next few days. For now, Kareem Brewton and Malik Rhodes will likely see more minutes at point guard.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin had a double-double with 21 points (8-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in a rout of UConn on Tuesday.

Martin has put up big numbers over his last four games, averaging 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.8 three-pointers, and 2.3 steals per game. Maybe not coincidently, Memphis has won all four of those contests. Last year as a sophomore, he played similar minutes, but was nowhere near as productive as the junior's been this year. Kyvon Davenport is the only other Tiger averaging in double figures this season. Martin will look to keep his hot stretch going on Saturday against Tulsa.

December 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin went off for 26 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 9-9 FT), seven rebounds, four steals, three assists, and a block in a loss to Louisville on Saturday.

Martin's 26 points tied his career high, which he set earlier this season. He has now scored in double figures in all 10 games this season. The junior's 17.2 PPG rank sixth in the American conference. Expect Martin to have another strong performance on Wednesday against Siena.

February 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin provided 23 points and 11 assists, but it wasn't enough to knock off Cincinnati on Thursday.

The 6-2 sophomore had his first double-double of the season, but the Tigers dropped their third straight game. In his previous four games, Martin averaged just 6.5 points and 3.0 assists. He is converting just 28.8 percent of his 3-pointers, so the guard will have something to work on before his junior season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin notched 20 points (7-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-9 FT), five rebounds, four steals, two assists, and a block in the loss to Tulsa on Wednesday.

This is just the second time this season that Martin has scored at least 20 points. He also tied a season high with his four steals. For the season, the 6-3 sophomore is averaging 9.8 points, 4.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 34.1 minutes per game. Martin will look to use this game as a springboard after scoring a total of 12 points in his previous three games. The Tigers will host USF on Saturday.

December 17, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Martin posted 25 points (6-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 10-12 FT), three assists, two rebounds, and two steals in the victory over Oklahoma on Saturday.

Martin was aggressive in this one as he set a career high in free-throw attempts in 42 minutes. After playing a limited role last year, Martin has upped his minutes per game to 33.2, which is nearly 20 minutes higher than he played in his freshman campaign. The 6-3 guard is leading the team in assists with 5.7 per contest to go along with 2.0 steals per game.
