2019 Tournament PreviewAfter a one-year absence, Louisville returns to the tournament under first-year head coach Chris Mack. The Cardinals largely overachieved this year and appeared to hit a wall down the stretch, going 4-8 since February to finish tied for sixth in the ACC. Louisville gets it done defensively, ranking 17th in efficiency per KenPom, and 20th in opponent effective field-goal percentage. Despite ranking 29th in efficiency, the Cardinals struggle offensively, ranking no higher than 119th in most key metrics. Led by 6-8 sophomore forward Jordan Nwora (17.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg), who shoots a team-leading 37.1 percent from 3-point range, Louisville plays eight players 16-plus minutes, but 6-5 junior forward Dwayne Sutton (10.2 ppg 6.9 rpg) is the only other double-digit scorer. A mere 4-11 against Quadrant 1 teams, Louisville is likely too inexperienced and void of top talent to make a real run, but it is battle-tested enough to put a scare into higher seeds.
