Billings has been ruled out for three to five months after dislocating his shoulder while playing for Kent against Glamorgan in the Royal London One-Day Cup on Thursday (April 26), Cricbuzz reports.
ANALYSIS
Billings has dislocated his shoulder at the end of the first over of the game against Cardiff, diving to stop a ball in the outfield. He was treated with oxygen before being led from the playing area and was taken to a hospital where the shoulder was relocated. However, Paul Downtown, Director of Kent Cricket said, "Sam has seen a specialist this morning (26th April), where he underwent a scan to assess the extent of his injury. The scan highlighted significant damage to his shoulder, meaning he will require surgical intervention. This surgery has been scheduled for next week and it is anticipated that he will be back to fitness within three-five months". Furthermore, Billings has been ruled out of England's ODI against Ireland and the T20I against Pakistan early next month after the injury. In his absence, Surrey's wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has been called up as his replacement.
