2024 Fantasy Outlook
Minshew signed a two-year $25 million deal in March with Las Vegas where he will compete with Aidan O’Connell for the starting job. Minshew started 13 games last year with the Colts after rookie Anthony Richardson went down and was mostly his mediocre self. He was slightly more efficient than O’Connell, but still only ranked 25th in on-target percentage (70.4) while his 6.7 YPA ranked 23rd. Minshew can probably be trusted to take care of the ball better than O’Connell and has the veteran leadership traits that comfort coaches. He also is more mobile than O’Connell, who did not have one scramble yard last season. The Raiders likely will give O’Connell a chance to show a spark in training camp before turning to the fail-safe option in Minshew. Neither QB will have much to work with at WR, outside of Davante Adams and perhaps Jakobi Meyers, the though team has two quality TEs in Michael Mayer and first-round pick Brock Bowers. Josh Jacobs left in free agency, replaced by next-man-up Zamir White. Both also must learn the playbook of new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who presided over one of the league’s worst passing offenses the last two years in Chicago before getting fired. Avoids draft competition
Minshew remains poised to compete with Aidan O'Connell for the starting job this offseason, with the Raiders not having added to the quarterback position in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Minshew joined Las Vegas early in free agency back in March, and while it looked like the team was a candidate to add a rookie via April's draft, six quarterbacks came off the board before the Raiders' first-round selection of tight end Brock Bowers at No. 13 overall. Las Vegas also boosted the O-line with premium picks, selecting second-round guard Jackson Powers-Johnson and third-round tackle Delmar Glaze, so whichever of Minshew or O'Connell ultimately wins the starting role looks to be in a notably better position to succeed.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Will compete for starting job
Minshew won't be handed the starting quarterback job with the Raiders after signing a two-year, $25 million contract with the team Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
As the Las Vegas depth chart currently stands, Minshew would be competing with 2023 fourth-round pick Aidan O'Connell for the top job, a battle in which the veteran could have the edge. However, Minshew's contract isn't so large that it would prevent the Raiders from using a premium draft pick in 2024 on the position. The signing does likely take the club out of the running for one of the other big names available this offseason, such as Justin Fields.

After two years as the backup in Philadelphia (four starts), Minshew signed this offseason with Indianapolis where he could begin the year as the starter. Fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson will take over at some point, perhaps as soon as Week 1, but Minshew is a steady veteran who takes care of the ball (1.6 career INT percentage, 5th lowest since 2019) and can lead an offense. He doesn’t have a big arm but is effective throwing deep -- he completed five of eight attempts of 20-plus yards last season, and his career 56.4 percent on-target rate on such throws is second highest in the league since 2019 (min. 65 attempts). In Indianapolis, he’ll have Michael Pittman 2022 second-round pick Alex Pierce and rookie third-rounder Josh Downs to target at wide receiver, along with Jonathan Taylor out of the backfield and a likely committee at tight end. Minshew also has good instincts as a scrambler, though he lacks the size or speed to add much on designed runs. That could be enough for value in two-QB leagues if he ends up making starts.
