Wizards Defeat Lakers in OT,127-124
The Washington Wizards defeated the host Los Angeles Lakers, 127-124, at Staples Center on Monday.

There were eight ties and 10 lead changes in this game, taking an overtime session to determine a winner. Los Angeles actually led by 14 points at the half but Washington fought back with a 66-52 second half. The Wizards held the lead for the entirety of the overtime, outscoring the Lakers, 12-9. LeBron James attempted a 30-foot three-pointer to tie the game at the buzzer but missed. Getting to the free-throw line was key, with Washington hitting 24-of-33 and Los Angeles connecting on just 11-of-17. The Wizards also outscored the Lakers in the paint, 66-50.

The Wizards (11-17) were led by Bradley Beal, tallying 33 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Russell Westbrook collected 32 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Rui Hachimura amassed 15 points and six rebounds. Robin Lopez led the bench with 13 points while Deni Avdiha had eight points and eight boards.

The Lakers (22-10) were led by James and his 31 points, nine rebounds and 13 assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope totaled 21 points and three rebounds. Kyle Kuzma generated 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Montrezl Harrell led the bench with 26 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

On deck for Los Angeles is a road game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. As for Washington, they play the second half of a back-to-back set on Tuesday, playing the Los Angeles Clippers.
